We stayed at Bharatagarh Fort on our was from Amritsar to Shimla and loved every minute of our time there. The beautifully appointed heritage room on the top floor of a carefully converted tower was a delight as was the terrace that afforded wonderful views around a full 360 degrees. The updating to accommodate 21st century visitors has been carefully... More

I am a traveler from the U.S. in India for business. I found Bharatgarh Fort to be highly interesting, comfortable, and hospitable. The owners are amazing. We sat late into the night discussing India and US, history and culture. That said, they knew when to leave us alone and I definitely had privacy. The hotel staff are very nice and... More

3 of us stayed at this recently converted fort while on a business trip to IIT Ropar. We expected to encounter a unique B&B, rather than the standard hotels in Chandigarh. But we had the additional bonus spending 2 hours with our hosts learning about their family, history, and sharing a friendly whisky. The Singhs decided to take on the... More

A fort in the Shivalik Hills with a difference. The Bharatgarh Fort is run by its occupants with a personal affection that highlights its experience. The well kept ramparts and the rich green fields around the locale embellish the hospitality of this property. A boutique heritage jewel in the wilderness!

We chose this wonderful place for the family to holiday together...two couples from Ludhiana, one from Chandigarh and one from the US and our lovely children....with a purpose to put up our feet and let the hospitality of the hosts spoil us with their service, food and drink...which they did so wonderfully and we are so grateful...it was our second... We had three night stay with my family. Every one enjoys the ambience and experience of living in a fort. Great hospitality and wonderful people. Rooms are well equipped and clean. Surroundings are beautiful. It’s a perfect place for visitors who are sick of vacations at busy tourist places.

We stayed for one night but thought we should have added a day or two to enjoy the location and hospitality. Just the stop we wanted on our way to Manali. I might also consider the location for a family / corporate event. The fort belongs to and also run by the 9th generation royal family. Very nice people and... More

A long overdue family holiday, the fields, paranthas, dhaba chai, stealing raddishes, taking out sugarcanes from passing bullock-carts, staying at the only live-in fort from 1783 in Punjab that is inhabited by the 9th generation in line, being part of history, clean water-bodies, delicious food and organic veggies from the kitchen garden, water from the house-well, kadha prasad at Anadpur...
