Got off the ship and onto the bus to go to the hotel. Were going to take the excursion to the Russian border but it was cancelled. A short ride to the hotel on the snow covered streets. Kirkenes is a very small town so other than the tourist activities there is not a lot to do. Walked around town... More

I stayed here for 7 days and found the rooms to be comfortable and well heated (got too warm at times, but opening the windows quickly fixed that). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee was provided but i had to go up the hall for hot water. The free breakfast was fantastic and had a huge selection. The hotel... More

I do! But there wasn't any when I wanted it, so the lady at reception told me I could have my shower in the sauna room and gave me the card for the MALE sauna room! Thank God I wasn't sleep walking! The room on the fourth floor was big enough for the two of us, clean linens and yes,... More

worst hotel I've stayed in, rude and unhelpful reception staff, asked a couple of times if there was somewhere to get lunch, told you're in Norway on a sunday so nothing open til after 3.....only to find a restaurant less than 50m away that opened at 1pm. We were happy to use hotel restaurant and reception staff said they would... More

The Rica Arctic Hotel has been purchased by the Scandic Hotel chain. It is currently (November 2014) in need of much renovation of the rooms, which are small, sparsely furnished, and cold during winter weather. Prices are currently much too high for the quality of the hotel. It is the only hotel in the center of town, but Kirkenes is... More

Kirkenes (KIrke=Church) on the boarder to Russia is a small city living from mining, fishing, ship repairs and Russian tourists. It is the turning harbor for the Hurtigruten (The Costal Express) six days up from Bergen, the same for the route back. In summer it is very busy with more hotels open. In the dark season the choices are fewer. Rica,... More

We stayed here the night before departing on a Hurtigruten boat trip. Arrived in the morning, which gave us time to walk around the center of town after a delightful light lunch. Ate all our meals in the restaurant, all of which were enjoyable (and good service!). Room was clean and comfortable (with heated floors). Staff was friendly and helpful... More

not too many options but paying 334 USD (for 3) is a lot of money for what we received. Rooms very small. We asked for bath robes to use while going to the swimming pool and the girl in the reception said it's only for the VIP guests. normal rooms don't get them. I asked for extra towels instead and... We stayed here for one night after leaving the Hurtigrten boat trip. Very comfortable, clean room. We ate in the resturant and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Breakfast very good. Location is good for centre of town, and airport bus passes right by. A bit disappointed we weren't told about tea/coffee making facilities on ground floor as we didn't discover these... More
