We started our Aurora Borealis hunt from Tromso, Hurtigruten Cruise brought us to Honningsvag and Kirkenes. We picked a very nice place to stay. Although we could no longer see the northern light after three encounters, we enjoyed our stay at the Sollia very much. The golden autumn scenery was breath catching. The owner is a nice couple: Einvind and... More

We stayed two nights in one of the rustic cottages with our teenagers. The cottage had a kitchenette, which was very convenient. The beds were very comfortable. We had a delicious breakfast in the main building both days, meeting fellow travelers for lovely conversations. We had dinner at the restaurant on the lake, freshly prepared, beautiful view. We had brought... More

Sollia Gjestegård is run by a lovely, hospitable couple who also run the excellent Gapahuken Restaurant, offering surprisingly delicate French-inspired cooking in the middle of a beautiful landscape on the Russian border. Peaceful views on a lake from the restaurant and the cabins, nice outdoor jacuzzi and fun husky safari. Clean, quiet, idyllic – I can only recommend the place... More

We had a very pleasant stay at Sollia. Be aware that the weather can be fickle - towards the end of June we had freezing rain and snow, never saw the sun or northern lights. It is right across the road from a lake, with Russia on the opposite shore. You can hike the dog sled trails in the summer.... More

I stayed at Sollia Gjestegard for just a few days, as I thought it looked like the perfect location to get some time away from things - and I couldn't have been more right. Welcomed on the first night at the airport, I was driven to the guest house, and enjoyed a meal upon arrival. The following day I took... More

My sister and I had a great time here. We travelled with Simply Sweden who booked us a 4/5 birth cabin. The bedrooms were small but adequate. There was a good size lounge with a kitchen area. There was a wood burning stove and electric heaters so we were very warm. We watched the Winter Olympics on the television from... More

We came over the Russia/Norway border (from Murmansk) and some 500 metres after the Norwegian post found this very comfortable guest house, overlooking a lake shared by both countries. A most welcome oasis of peace, with super friendly staff, comfortable huts, and pleasant home cooking (assuming you eat reindeer at home). Many Norwgian towns are very attractive, but Kirkenes is... Part of our nordic tour, we included Kirkenes in our itinerary and decided on Sollia and we were glad we made that decision as it turned out to be a wonderful stay! Forget hotels in town...if you want a slice of peace and waking up to spectacular winterscape then Sollia Gjestegard is the place. Run by the wonderfully warm and... More

This glorious guest-house is located just outside Kirkeness and a Km from the Russian Border. This family run guest-house has great accommodation and a vast wilderness of countryside to explore. The guest-house has it's own huskies and in winter the Husky Safari is a fantastic experience. All the staff are extremely helpful, and the food is exceptional with the restaurant... More

We booked a 3 night package deal to stay here with one night added on in Oslo. Our package included breakfast and dinner. This is a real get away from it all kind of place as there is nothing else near by. We were collected from the airport by a lovely guy who told us about Kirkenes and the area... More
