The Prinses Juliana Hotel has recently been re-named the J Hotel. This is more than a name change - it seems that the hotel has also undergone a partial refurbishment. Parts of the hotel are rather modern and trendy looking, e.g. the lounge - very pleasant. However, what is a little jarring is that they have retained some of the old decorations from Prinses Juliana Hotel time and these are completely at odds with the current look and feel they are trying to create. E.g. the breakfast room or restaurant (which, by the way, is listed as one of the top two restaurants in Valkenburg by website [--]) has trendy furnishing, but retained the old chandeliers from the past. The grandeur of the chandeliers feels at odd with the modern trendy casual comfort of the new decoration.
The room is pretty big and generally clean, with big bathroom. The linen on the bed are clean and looks good. The downside about the room is that the furniture doesn't look too sturdy, and seems old-fashioned...
