A great place to stay for going into Maastricht - only 15 mins on a frequent train service. Trains come back until late in the evening too. But Valkenburg is also a good place for restaurants and bars in the evening. A pretty little town to explore and the castle ruins are worth a visit. The hotel itself is friendly,... More

My wife and I found the hotel provided what we had expected except for evening meals. Our reception was kind and efficient. The secured car parking at €10/day was ideal. Expecting to be eating at the hotel on our first evening, we were informed 'only coach parties on a half-board basis have other than just breakfast'. I feel this should... More

It wasn't a complete disaster; some aspects were good to very good. But two matters that stood out for me were both bad. There seems a determined level of overpricing and short measures in the bar. Basic wine that I could buy from Sainsbury's in the UK for £4 was 19 euros in the bar. More, all the other wine... More

We stayed at The Walram as part of the ' 3 countries' tour with National Holidays. A full and interesting tour. Dave, our driver was very good and helpful, and coped with the sometimes manic traffic well. We would recommend this tour to anyone, good job again National. The hotel was welcoming and check in was quick and efficient. Our... More

This is a very friendly excellently situated hotel just a minute from the centre of Valkenburg. The rooms are slightly small but clean and comfortable with good storage and nice ensuite bathrooms. We were a small coach party staying 4 nights. Breakfast provided a wide choice. The evening meals of very high standard. We had terrible weather for the first... More

We have just stayed here for three nights on a half board basis, and can recommend this hotel. Some rooms may be a little tired, but the staff are very helpful and friendly, and the food served has been to a very high standard. Its location is also a bonus, being close to the centre of the town, but also... More

Stayed 4 nights - bed, breakfast & evening meal with National Holidays on 3 countries tour. Extremely good value holiday in a beautiful location. Local area had excellent choice of places to have a meal or drink & people seemed really friendly & welcoming. Room was basic but clean & comfortable. There was a small indoor pool but as we... More

What an excellent hotel. Rooms very nice and comfortable the food was of the highest standard the staff was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble from the reception bar area and restaurant staff. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Best Western Hotel Walram is a stylish hotel with a rich history. It was originally a farm during the 18th Century, built on the remains of the city walls. Since 1920 it has been run as a hotel. With this long history Hotel Walram has been a steady feature in Valkenburg for decades. Since the parents of the current owner bought the hotel in 1940 much has been altered, built, demolished and re-built. Nevertheless the original facade of limestone rock still shines through in all its past glory. This gives prestige, not only to the hotel, but to the whole square in which it is situated. The Hotel Walram is renowned for its special atmosphere. It exudes a unique ambiance of nostalgia and modernity, making people feel right at home. Moreover, the hotel offers the best of two worlds: directly in front of the hotel lies the picturesque town of Valkenburg and to the rear you walk straight into the forests. Do not be misled by its long history: Hotel Walram has modern facilities including an indoor swimming pool and sauna. ... more   less
