What a lovely, peaceful place to stay! Aside from the initial surprise and uncertainty on the final approach (yes - it really is up this small unmade road - just keep going!!!), once we arrived we were made to feel right at home staying with Claudia and Carlo. The house is beautiful, not to mention the garden and pool area.... More

If you're looking for a B&B in stunning countryside with wonderful hosts, Claudia and Carlo's 'La Canonica di Fungaia' in the small hamlet of Fungaia is definitely it. The Canonica dates back to 800 AD, is perched on a hill, set in large spacious grounds with a view of the beautiful Tuscan countryside and Siena in the distance. Claudia serves... More

Claudia and Carlo are perfect hosts. The place is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. It's quiet and historic. We made several day trips and looked forward to coming back to our beautiful room. Breakfast was amazing--couldn't have asked for more and Claudia made delicious eggs every morning I have not been able to duplicate. This place made our trip to... More

Off the beaten path, this bed and breakfast is a little difficult to find, but certainly worth the effort. The property is beautiful with multiple sitting areas all around the outside. We never did test the inner ones... Hosts Claudia and Carlo were as friendly and helpful as could be. Breakfast was enough to (almost) hold us over till dinner!... More

We had a 16 day trip through Italy with this wonderful B&B our final stop before heading back to California. We couldn't have planned it better. This farmhouse/church combination's oldest part goes back to the 12th century with most of it from the 16th. Everything about it is beautiful - the setting, the rooms, the garden/pool, the breakfast and especially... More

Staying with Claudia and Carlo is so familiar, feels actually like coming home in Italy. The best place to stay when exploring the Sienna, Terre di Sienna, Monterigioni and Val d’Elsa regions. We had the chance to stay in their most beautiful room this time. From our room we saw Sienna nearby. Every room in this house is cool thanks... More

We stayed at La Canonica in August 2012 for 1 week. Im a 'bit' late writing but we loved it so much I wanted to share our experience! The accomodation is set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, in a very peaceful spot. You definately need a car to get there and to explore, eat out etc . The roads are... More

Fantastic surprise- we were upgraded to a larger room. The room was lovely and spacious. Very friendly hosts. Offered suggestions of where to visit and eat. We would definitely stay here again.Excellent breakfast. We enjoyed the serenity and closeness to Sienna

June 2012... After driving the dirt-road to Fungaia, we were stunned with the beautiful house that is La Canonica di Fungaia. At first we thought we had the wrong address, but yes, you should drive to the smal church. The church of Fungaia is in fact on thesame property. Fungaia itself only housed four families while we were there. It... More

Our stay of three nights at la canonica was a beautiful experience and one that we will treasure always. The hosts claudia and her husband were so warm and welcoming and she gave us so many useful suggestions on the routes and eating places that made our self drive leg of the tuscan countryside throughly enjoyable. The rooms were impeccable,... More
