The hotel is quite basic, dark, and with old-fashioned furniture. The room was tolerable, but the attitude of the staff was not. They were unhelpful when I was looking for somewhere to eat in the evening, and in the morning I could not have breakfast (which they advertise as 6 euros) because 'there were only three rooms occupied'. After some... More

Arriving in Irun by train from Paris we took a taxi to the hotel as it was raining heavily. The hotel was dark and old fashioned, surrounded by trees and we were initially not impressed. But the staff were helpful and the room OK. They are obviously refurbishing much of the hotel and it needs it. It was convenient, close... More

It's old fashioned, dark woods, needs some refurbs in the rooms but is nonetheless super clean, very very nice and helpful people and good situation for the beauty of Hondarribia. A 10 euro ride to the airport, and overall really okay!

This is a simple hotel, a little old-fashioned even, but it's reasonably comfortable, conveniently-located (about 20 minutes' walk from both Irún and Hendaye railway stations) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were a little apprehensive about our late arrival (11.30pm) at the hotel but it was no problem: the receptionist was expecting us and checked us in... More

We usually stay at The Ibis when stopping off in Irun, but this time we thought that we would try The Alcazar as it was near to the town centre with lots of dining options within walking distance.Big mistake! Some reviewers have described this place as 'cosy', well the reality is that the hotel is shabby, dated and very tired.... More

This hotel is a nice friendly hotel -- older-- family style-- but well maintained -- very nice staff. The hotel is located very near shopping and markets and is very easy to find. The grounds are very well kept and there is free parking. As the hotel is in a damp area there is a musty smell in the lobby... More

The Alcazar Hotel is a quite near the French border with easy access not only to Bayonne, Biarritz, etc in France but also to the Spanish destinations of San Sebastian, Fuenterrabia and others. The hotel has been family-owned and run for many years and has a very comfortable ambiance in the public rooms. It is a traditional small hotel with... More

Arrived in Irún late from Paris on a wet night and needed a hotel, and very luckily they had a room available for a decent price. Very friendly lady on the reception desk, much appreciated after walking in the rain and the long train journey from Paris. Style of the hotel was traditional and very cosy, polished floor boards and... More

Travelling in the Basque Country with my girlfriend, we chose this cozy hotel in Irun as our headquarter because it is located in the centre of the city and it was not expensive. It was an excellent choice, familiar and charming. From there, we visited Hondarribia, San Sebastian, Bilabo, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Hendaye, Bayona. Very nice trip. We knew about the nice... More

it's like staying in your grandma's house! Beautiful little hotel with modern rooms. Affordable cost, free internet, friendly staff, free internet in the "business center." Excellent shopping within walking distance. This little place is worth checking out!
