This hotel is a converted mansion in the main square of Merida opposite the Town Hall. The lobby is of breathtaking beauty. The rooms are large with modern bathrooms and tastefully decorated. However, guests must beware the possible appearance of the occasional cockroach. The staff does not speak English except for a couple of receptionists. There is WiFi in the... More

A renaissance palace in the central square of Merida, well renovated as a luxury hotel. Great breakfast buffet , do not miss the cured ham (jambon iberico) with grilled bread and tomato spread, the real breakfast in the south of Spain. The room was small in size, just under the roof, but with a great view on a stoke nest... More

The Merida Palace is classified as a "five star." It is not, in my opinion!!!! It is in a nice location with a certain amount of charm but it is old. I hate to lift up the toilet seat in a "five star hotel" to find that the paint flaking off and there is a black ring around it because... More

This was a late booking, and we got a great deal - representing real value for money. Even without this, the Merida Palace is a really good hotel. Yes, you need to speak some Spanish (lets face it, it is Spain) but the staff are very friendly and helpful if you make the effort. We had a room overlooking the... More

Stayed one night but this is a fantastic building in a North African style. The bedroom was large with a decent sized bathroom, good quality furniture and comfy bed. I didn't have a great view from the room but as I checked in late and left early this wasn't an issue. The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly... More

Some of the reviews here are mind-boggling, and make you wonder about people who visit an impoverished region in an economically troubled nation and expect to be staying at the Burj al-Arab. Plainly the decor is not proving to everyone’s taste, but I personally thought it a brave attempt to capture the tremendously eclectic style of the town itself, and... More

This was a reasonably-priced hotel and you get what you pay for. Everything was OK - nothing special but the airconditioning was very poor and it wasn't until morning that the room finally cooled down.

Lazy staff would ignore requests for assistance and then actually refuse to assist in most basic ways. Worst hotel food we've ever had Breakfast pastries were dry and tasteless. Coffe tasted instant. Parking expensive, difficult and seemed unsafe for cars. We were afraid our rental would be scratched upon return. Dinner wait staff very provincial and inflexible. Tried to manipulate... More

This is a good 4* hotel, but in my opinion it isn't a 5* as it claims to be, mainly because the standard of service just isn't high enough. However our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very good central location, close to many restaurants. We had breakfast at the hotel which was good.... More
