Stayed here for one night whilst travelling from Bilbao ferry to Algarve. This hotel is right in the centre of Merida and once inside the walls you get a very different and somewhat special experience. There is an underground car-park accessed after you have checked in, which is great but comes at a cost ( £12 per night). Small pool... More

This is the first time my wife and I have stayed in this Parador - and it will not be the last. Welcomed on arrival by attentive and helpful staff, they resolved our room issue immediately and even brought the new room keys to our table in the terrace bar. Lovely al-fresco dinner in the restaurant and a gorgeous breakfast... More

The Parador de Merida is a wonderful building, full of character and in the centre of a town which has become a firm favourite of ours on this trip. Rooms are well appointed in the usual parador style and spacious. Service is excellent and the breakfast very good indeed. The pool is small, but who cares when you're in the... More

We picked this hotel mainly due to its location and because it had a pool. We loved the location as it was within walking distance to everything you would want to see. What we didn't love was the room and how dirty the pool was. This hotel was a four star about 10 to 15 years ago. Now it is... More

Staying in Paradores is most of the time reliable and somewhat pricey. Now they have also adopted a policy of charging for parking. This lovely setting in an old convent is spoiled by some of the most dour service personnel we have encountered in along list of Paradors throughout Spain. The hotel itself is charming and the rooms clean, comfortable... More

We enjoyed our stay here, just the one night, as the room was fine and the place generally quiet. I found the bar lacking in atmosphere, but dining outside was fun. I agree with the Swiss travellers that the food was disappointing and certainly greasy. I have eaten many local delicacies in paradors over the years, but this one ranks... More

Very nice and well renovated historic building in the center of Merida. Very quiet. As it is an ancient convent, a bit austere, but really friendly atmosphere. On the down side, be aware that the doors are "really" thin, and that you tend to hear everything what is happening in the corridors from your room (and vice-versa). The real problem... More

Paradores set the standard, and this one will not disappoint. Well located yet in a quiet location. It may seem bigger and "colder" than other Paradores, but the service is excellent and bar & restaurant do not disappoint either. As usual, the romos are also extremely comfortable.

This was my first stay in a Parador. The Merida Parador, originally a convent, has beautifully maintained the integrity of its history. Take in the chapel, cloistered courtyard or garden, where you can rest and have a drink. There is a lovely tranquility to this place. The coffered ceiling in the comfortable room is reminiscent of the past. Our room... More

I work as a tour manager and am staying at the parador tonight with my group. We are all incredibly impressed with this beautiful hotel, the service is excellent, the dinner fabulous, and the hotel itself is splendid. i have stayed in many paradors and this one is up there in the ratings. Love it.
