The short version is - everything about our stay was perfect. We drove into town knowing that David would come find us if we got lost, though our GPS and Google Maps on the Blackberry came through for us, bringing us along to the hotel despite a couple of closed roads. There is a long row of parking spots just... more

Well of course we got lost. "They all do", says David when he comes to rescue us somewhere in the town very late on a Wednesday night. So yes, the GPS throws a wobbly if you miss the actual turn-off and it can't see the sky from the narrow streets crowded with beautiful Spanish Moorish architecture. But obviously this doesn't... more

Rather belatedly I write this review to say that there are four "gems" in Jerez.... David, Fiona, La Fonda Barranco and Jerez itself! I couldn't say it better than the most recent reviewer dated August 2009 so, read that review, it says everything I'd want to say following our two very positive experiences staying at La FB. (My apologies David... more

I booked La Fonda Barranco after reading some of the great reviews here and I certainly wasn't disappointed. David & Fiona are exceptional hosts, with nothing too much trouble, and David in particular was a fount of knowledge on what to do & see and where to eat within Jerez. He organised a tour of Bodegas Tradicion for us, which... more

The hotel is located in the centre of Jerez with all the many points of interest within easy walking distance. Strangely enough, car parking was not a problem as in many city centres. The proprietor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the places to see in the city and the local area, day and night! If you want a place... more

This Hotel was booked as a treat for my Birthday whilst nearing the end of a 10 day tour around Andalucia. After spending 4 nights in a tent early on in the trip I was looking forward to a bit of luxury for my birthday and we weren't disappointed. We chose this Hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and... more

I recently returned from a three night break at La Fonda Barranco. It certainly lived up to, if not exceeded my expectations, based on the reviews on this site. David is a superb host and has extensive knowledge of Jerez and the surrounding areas. We found him to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, his breakfasts very pretty good too! We... more

I recognize one of my fellow guests from the previous review of this lovely hotel and would agree with all he said. The location is great, just a 5 minute stroll from the main plaza in Jerez, and less to the Cathedral. Clean, cool (silent air conditioning in the room), friendly. Food was very good in the restaurants recommended by... more

From the second I was welcomed to La Fonda Barranco by David (the host) I felt that this short weekend is going to be a memorable one. The old architecture of the house exuded character in line with the city of Jerez. I was warmly welcomed and well settled into a spacious roof-top accommodation that overlooked the Cathedral. The room... more

Like others who have positively reviewed this delightful small hotel in the historic town of Jerez, we found hosts David and Fiona both helpful and charming. They clearly love this region in Spain and try to assist with any question or request. An old world ambience is faithfully captured in this restored merchant’s house. It is located in the former... more
