This is a very highly rated masseria but we were very disappointed. The whole experience is compromised by the traffic noise from the nearby motorway. Constant and very noticeable which rather undermines the point of "getting away from it all" for me. Our room was a little too spartan, with a very pinched shower stall that could easily have been... Borgo San Marco is a beautifully restored old farmhouse, once fortified against attack from invaders from across the seas. It is a historic building with all the atmosphere preserved, but no efforts have been spared to provide comfort for the guests at this small hotel. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and made our stay... More

Stayed at Borgo San Marco for 5 nights in Oct. Del Calviere room was a suite on the first floor of the main building with excellent views of the surrounding countryside out to the sea in one direction and hills the other way. Booked on 5 night for price of 4 deal which meant the price per night was very... More

A wonderful place to get away from it all, and a fine base for exploring the still relatively unspoilt hill towns and villages of Puglia. BSM has been beautifully and painstakingly restored. There is nothing gaudy or tacky here. It is plainly very well managed, and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and efficient. A group of us stayed here for... More

Maybe others have criticized because they desire everpresent always visible staffing? For us everything we needed or wanted was provided with great goodwill and no fuss. There was a sense that it was our place to be in undisturbed, unless we had a question, in which case you could always find a cheerful and simple response. It was as though... More

My wife, 15 month old son and myself are just back from a weeks stay at BSM and I felt compelled to write a review having read some of the (in my opinion unjustified) bad reviews posted. First of all, I have to say that the staff were absolutely amazing for the entire duration of our stay. They were very... More

Everything is real here - old is old and it is no decoration - old walls, olive trees in ancient arena... Do relax by the pool half of the day and then hit the road for beaches and towns around. Do not forget to get some olive oil when leaving.

This place deserves better. Originally a charming & ancient site, it's unfortunately run by a dishonest manager, concerned only by appearing in the right magazines (that's how we ended up here...) and offering the cheapest service he can to his guests. This made us feel like spending our money elsewhere, which we happily did at Masseria Montenapoleone (where we just... More

We stayed at Borgo San Marco for a week during Witsun half term. The place was fully occupied and probably half of the rooms were occupied by families with very young children, but with so much indoor and outdoor space around the property to relax in, this never caused any disturbance. This is a great place either for couples or... More

Eight days at Borgo San Marco followed the bustle of Salerno/Amalfi/Pompeii and the ancient sophistication of Matera. This place was the highlight and my abiding memory of the trip. First impressions were of rustic hospitality but not quite what I'd expected in some way. But the longer you spend in the place - walking the old flagstones in the courtyards,... More
