This hotel is a memorable experience. I don't think many hotels are that memorable, but the architecture makes it such. One must see it, it cannot be really described. The four floors are not top of each other, but spread on the area, since the hotel is built on a downhill ground towards the lake. Therefore it blends into the... More

Good place to stay if visiting Ähtäri Zoo. Hotel is nice, but a bit worn out already. Nice lake views from the rooms and nice architecture. Food quality is nothing special, breakfast is ok, dinner buffet is not worth the money, rather order from a la carte. There is a small pool/spa at the hotel with free access for morning... More

Hotelli Mesikämmen suits best for persons or families, who wish to use their time in different fitness activities, or visit the Ähtäri Zoo, with its Flowpark, which is just a couple hundred meters from the hotel. We just stayed overnight, and did not use available possibilities (except visited the Zoo to see the newcomer, red panda). The hotel was built... More

This hotel is in serious need of refurbishment. If you don't mind staying in hotels with cracked glazing, broken basins, noisy pipework, gloomy depressing decor, no tea-making facility in the rooms, rotten woodwork, smelly drains and dangerous electrics then this hotel is for you. We had to move rooms twice before deciding enough is enough and going elsewhere. Its only... More

We didnt like the children hamburger in this place. It was maybe the worst ever. It was also very pricey. Other foods in restaurant was fine and hotel looks very unique. Allthought hamburger was bad this place is still better place to eat in Ähtäri than ABC restaurant.

Pluses: ++ The room has a balcony right next to the lake which gave us this sense of peace and quiet, which I haven't experienced in other hotels. This felt very special. + Cozy room (simple, but yet comfortable with a cottage vibe to it). + Just across the Ähtäri Zoo. + Architecture of hotel with rocky walls and underground... More

This place offers privacy and silence. Hotel is located just across the Ähtäri Zoo, beside a pine forest. When i visited there with my family, atmosphere was peaceful and comfortable. Hotel had a small spa. Childrens nursing room was modest. Easiest choice to get there is a rental car or take a local bus. Notice: some of the rooms are... More

The architecture of the hotel is really interesting and cool with all the rock walls and a cave-like feeling. The rooms were good, especially the ones that are renovated. The facilities are fine, but the wi-fi doesn't work in the rooms which is a bit of a minus. Restaurant of the hotel serves basic food with some local foods. Location... More

They only keep the hotel, they have done any repairs or changes to modernise the hotel or surroundings. The only good thing is the nearby zoo. In the restaurant the staff was quite unvilling to arrange bigger table for our group, so we had to ask them to move a small table to get enough place for all. The best... More

If you are visiting Ähtäri Zoo then this hotel has the best location, it's right across the street from the zoo. Otherwise this hotel is quite far from anything. Our room was on the old side of the hotel (furthest corner from the reception), and it was really vintage with brown furry carpets and worn out wallpapers. Our room also... More
