I booked a 2 night stay in a suite, which was not cheap, in March, for end of June, managed to get a babysitter and days off work organised, only for the hotel to phone at 8pm, the night before our stay, to cancel our room due to the refurbishment not being finished!! As you can imagine I was not... more

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in Dunblane Hydro. The hotel exterior (from the front) is attractive and it i in a nice setting and the restaurant was good. However, the 'full refurbishment' is not that full! On the upper main floors the rooms are indeed to a modern attractive standard but if your pot-luck has it... more

We stayed for a two night break with an excellent offer from their own website for DBB. The Hotel is in the process if being renevated but what has been completed is very nice, stylish and modern without losing the flavour of the magnificent old building that it is set in. The rooms were well appointed but a bit on... more

Just had a 4 night break and was very impressed with the standard of the hotel since the refurb. This is our fourth visit to the hotel and the first one since the alterations and I can recommend it to everyone it is now very chic. Staff very friendly and helpful and choice at breakfast is excellant. Looking forward to... more

Recently visited the hotel on a 2 night break, which was advertised as an offer for £119.00, and which turned out to be rather a waste of £119.00. The stay was the worst at any hotel we can ever remember. Whilst we understood that refurbishment was going on at the hotel, we were not told at the booking stage, or... more

Our room was ok nothing brilliant, pool was a short trip from the hotel, breakfast was good as much as you could eat, evening meals were ok, but may I just say that the bar staff were so friendly, and that made our trip worthwhile, and we will be going back, even just for a chat to Adam, hope Dunblane... more

Well Ive known and stayed at the Dunblane Hydro probably 6 times over 30 years, Ive even done a few shifts of work at the place, so I guess I could say that I know the place quite well. The last time I stayed there (2 years ago) I was shocked and saddened at how this once elegant hotel had... more

Many thanks for your constructive review following your recent stay. I am glad that you appreciate the physical changes to the property; we are almost there and as you mentioned there are final touches being finished off to staircases and external areas. Certainly the most positive feedback is regarding the bar and restaurant and we have ongoing developments there in...

My husband and two teenage children stayed at this hotel at the end of May 2009. We had a double room for ourselves and a twin room for the kids. Both rooms were clean and recently reburbished. The rooms were a reasonable size and comfortable. We stayed on a Dinner, B & B basis and found the evening meal menu... more

I have stayed at the Dunblane Hydro many times and always found it relaxing with good food, good service and plenty of entertainment to make your stay enjoyable. Unfortunately since Doubletree have taken over I feel the Hotel has lost all it's character and friendly ambiance. Luxurious refurbishments do not make up for good service. To the eye the foyer,... more

Thanks for your recent review - much appreciated. I was most disappointed to hear you felt the hotel has lost rather than gained in character following the refurbishment. We took great care to ensure that the contemporary interior design was sympathetic both to our listed internal features and to the Victorian exterior of the building. We are continually delivering staff...
