Amazing little town, which is beautiful, spectacular and charming in equal measure. The hotel is based in an old orphanage style building, really authentic and enchanting. Greats views from the bedrooms, good on site top end restaurant. Norway is mental expensive but for Norway this is good value. Make your way to the glacier and drink the fresh water! Go... More

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and really enjoyed this historical place. We also had 2 dinners with a very promising chef. Some storytelling by the manager at 7. Then a 3-course meal, which quality surprised the 2 French of us, and a piano concert to end the evening. A wonderful experience... Of course, it is expensive... But Norway... More

When I was young I ended up in this hotel by accident after a ferry trip before roads went into the Fjaerland Fjord. I had marvelous memories of the fantastic breakfast of many choices. This past June I revisited it with my wife. I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful old hotel in a remarkable setting along the fjord... More

Stayed for three nights in July and loved the hotel. It does not try and hide it's age and that's one of the charms - if you're looking for totally updated, modern comforts, this is not your place. However, the room we stayed in was spare, simple and very comfortable. To us, this fit the surroundings, which are unbelievably scenic.... More

Tucked away at the head of the fjord, the hotel has a slightly run down appearance but that mustn't put you off: it's a real gem. The hotel manager really makes the hotel buzz. Although we visited at the end of the Norwegian holiday season we were treated like personal friends of the manager, who joined us round a log... More

This hotel is so beautyful, the staff is super service minded, the food is fantastic and the atmpsphere is great! The room was not so modern but the bed was good and the view was amazing. We were a group of 9 who had a wonderful stay, including kayak and glacier.

Like everything in Norway, things are overpriced for not much in return. We spent 2500Kr for one night of stay with dinner. Food was decent for Norway standard and the meat was not over-cooked for once. The waiters were alsi nice and receiptionist was friendly. However the hotel is so run down it could use a lot of upgrade and... More

This is hotel is outstanding. The old woodden hotel is historical. Expect 'old-fashion' standard with the most charming hotel manager Norway can offer. The kitchen is great. Chef Roger is making the best food. Great hotel - great team - great place!

It was a delightful experience to stay in this charming ol hotel with a long and interesting history. Our room was comfortable with a view over mountains; the evening meal under the guidance of an expert chef was an experience in itself; and the breakfast also pleased our tastes. It was a very beautiful and peaceful place to spend two... More

We stayed one night in July. The hotel is old and very charming, it seems great effort have been spent successfully to maintain its atmosphere and ambiance. We spent a very pleasing evening in the salons reading and playing games by the fireplace. The hotel is located in an area of particular natural beauty, with spectacular views of fjord, mountains...
