When I went to Sweden in 2000, I stayed at the FrykenStrand. The facility was outstanding. Every amenity you could want. The staff was very accommodating, and assisted us with our research into our ancestral homeland. A great base of operations for our travels in Varmlands. The views were beautiful and grounds were well kept.
Fine meeting rooms and friendly bar. Be sure to ask the concierge for directions to the various sights and locations in the area.
Read Selma Lagerloff's books to get a taste for the locality and for the legends of the area. (Gösta Berling's saga may be depressing, but The Wonderful Adventures of Nils is charming)I would go back in a heartbeat, if I could afford the flight.
