We selected Burton's Sunset Oasis Motel as the second leg of our trip to Nova Scotia. We read it was the number one place to stay on Cape Breton and we were not disappointed. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The views were absolutely unforgettable. We took several walks and captured some of the most beautiful sunset pictures ever.... More

Absolutely THE best place to stay on Cape Breton. Located overlooking the fishing village of Bay St Lawrence and the atlantic ocean Burton"s Sunset Oasis is a 5 unit motel with kitchenettes in each unit. Incredibly friendly and helpful owners always have a smile for guests and were even kind enough to allow us to use their gas grill to... More

I made a reservation for next spring via the telephone. I asked for a confirmation email and was told they would send it right out. When I didn't get it on a few days I called again. They once again said they would send it. Again it never came. I called five times and it was always the same story.... More

We are so glad we chose to stay at Burton's Sunset Oasis in Bay St. Lawrence on our recent trip to Cape Breton. When we arrived and drove up to the motel, we were in awe at its perfect location atop a hill overlooking the cliffs and endless ocean. What a special place! Mel and Debbie work hard to make... This is an out-of-the-way place which is worth the time to drive to. The kitchenette was handy for making meals and the couch just invited us to relax. The owners were welcoming and not overbearing. It's a peaceful retreat with an inspiring view of the hills/mountains. Bring your own groceries as there aren't many restaurants in town (there is a... More

We just returned from our first visit to the maritime provinces. One highlight of our trip was our stay at this six unit motel, on the top of a hill overlooking the water and village of Bay St Lawrence. Our room was immaculate and roomy with a well furnished kitchenette. The owner, Melvin, could not have been friendlier. As the... More

We stayed here for 4 nights while exploring the Cabot Trail. The owners of the hotel are extremely nice and helpful, quick to give suggestions on where to eat and what to do in the area. The rooms were nice and clean. I loved having the kitchenette so that we could do some cooking ourselves to save money. Free wifi... More

This place is fantastic. Have you noticed how all these previous reviews keep mentioning how friendly and helpful the owners Melvin and Debbie are? Well, it's all true. Nicest people you'd ever want to meet. They're there from very early in the morning to very late at night and will do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The... More

We spent the night here as we were passing by around the trail and wanted to stop here for whale watching. This motel is small, only a half dozen rooms, but they are very clean and nice. Ours had a kitchenette with almost everything you would want to fix simple meals. The whole place is very friendly and relaxed and... More

Just a short drive off the beautiful Cabot Trail, you can experience an impeccable view. My boyfriend and I enjoyed dinner and wine on the picnic table as the sun set over the horizon. Accommodation was spacious, clean and included everything you needed to make food in the kitchen. We both really enjoyed the great hospitality from Melvin and Debbie!
