Ten of us hired the whole hostel for a five day silent Buddhist retreat in the first week of January. It was a wonderful location. Easy to get to from central Scotland. Inside the hostel was cosy and and warm - in every sense of the word. We used the hay loft for a meditation room. I would be a... More

We hired this hostel for New Year and it was fantastic - clean, homely, central and very warm. Lots of places to walk nearby and a small playground about a minute away. Perfect for families. Showers were great, three bathrooms. Kitchen was very well equipped. Only tiny quibble would be that the mattresses were so comfy and big that there... More

Lesley was amazingly kind to us when we arrived early with a poorly teenager. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and very clean. The showers were heaven, hot and fast. The communal area was full of sofas and musical instruments. The perfect stop.

Thank you to Lesley for allowing us to stay here, very well equipped with a great wood burner. Rooms very comfortable , in fact too comfortable for my son ( difficult to get him up for his early starts at Grandtully kayaking). We had good weather ,so drying kayaking kit outside was not a problem. Perfect , just needs to... More

Wester Caputh is a fabulous place to stay for those visiting the Dunkeld area. It's in a lovely quiet village, with picnic tables and benches to sit outside at night time looking at the stars. The hostel itself is really well equipped with a great kitchen/dining and living area. The bedrooms are really comfortable and clean. The owners are very... More

Spent a week here in the Wester Caputh cottage. It is a beautiful farmhouse attached to the hostel. Very homely and very comfortable, easy base for the whole of Perthshire. Lovely walks and very peaceful, small gardens that the children loved playing in. wood burning stoves and well equipped kitchen. Even though the lodge and hostel are attached there is... More

A very peaceful and comfortable hostel, with friendly and helpful hosts. You normally get a room allocated to your own group, even individuals. It would get a five-star rating if it had slightly more drying facilities - there is a small drying-rack which was adequate for me, but might be a bit limited if you had a large group of... More

I am one of a group of walkers/climbers/cyclists that regularly enjoy weekends in Scotland - and we have ticked off many a hostel in that process ... some, many more than I. The Wester Caputh Bunkhouse (http://www.westercaputh.co.uk/), close to Dunkeld, was a perfect destination for our weekend. We received a very warm welcome at the spotlessly clean hostel - well... We very much enjoyed our 2 week stay at Wester Caputh. A group of 5 of us were working on a forestry project and it was lovely to have a nice place to go back to after a day in the forest. The garden was a particular highlight and the land lady was very friendly and helpful. We've stayed at... More
