My wife and I recently stayed 2 nights at Brockley Estate in June. We timed the trip to take part in the Spanish Cooking class run by Chaxi. All we can say is that we wished we had stayed a bit longer, as it was the highlight of a week in Tasmania. The cooking class was fantastic, the wine in... More

Brockley Estate was the location for a birthday get together for ourselves and 9 friends. What a discovery! We stayed two nights. The rooms were large and beautifully furnished, the bed was amazing and the silence was deafening. We enjoyed walks along the river and some short trips into Orford and Triabunna. Our hosts could not do enough for us:... More

We recently stayed at the Brockley Estate for three nights. The food was excellent as was the service and the accommodation. The hosts are accommodating and thoughtful. One of the best places we have stayed in Australia.

Julian & Chaxi were great hosts, very warm and welcoming. The property was beautiful and our room comfortable and inviting. Loved the bathroom too (Double Marble room). Highly recommend the dinner prepared and cooked by Chaxi - wonderful cook! Great for a relaxing stay in the countryside but if feeling energetic, go for a walk along the old convict trail... More

We really loved this beautiful heritage home which has been restored brilliantly. Open fires, a great breakfast, helpful and friendly owners- what more could you ask for. The house is surrounded by fields of cattle and sheep and the highlight for me, being a city girl, was being allowed to watch the sheep being sheared and the wool classer explaining... More

We spent a night at Brockley Estate with our friends & had a very relaxing 24hrs away from Hobart. Our hosts were very friendly & informative. We relaxed in front of the open fire enjoying a few pre dinner drinks in large cushy chairs surrounded by beautiful antiques. Our dinner was delicious with a Spanish influence. Breakfast was very enjoyable... More

I booked 2 rooms for me and my husband and our friends travelling with us fairly last minute after 2 nights of previously booked accommodations fell through for our 7 days in Tasmania. It turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Beautiful rooms in a picturesque location. The hosts were charming and very helpful with sight seeing recommendations.... More

My boyfriend and I have just finished our trip through Tasmania. We travelled around the island for almost 2 months and our stay at Brockley was definately a highlight! We just stayed for one night, but it felt like leaving friends. The location is very special, the house is beautifully restored and Chaxi and Julian are the perfect hosts. After... More

A really great old period property with nice rooms and comfy beds , but I think the owners are a little confused. They want to charge and operate it like a hotel. A hotel it is not. It is a B&B and should be run accordingly. There is a clear distinction betwen the way a hotel is run and the... More

We stayed for two nights in the "Best Bedchamber" room. Brockley Estate is a beautifully restored house full of charm and original features. This is topped off with touches of luxury throughout from the bed linen and robes to the toiletries. Our room had a lovely freestanding bath, fireplace and doors opening out on to the verandah. The bedroom door... More

Thanks very much for your kind comments and Chaxi and I are very glad that you enjoyed your stay. Without being too repetitive, as I’ve answered the previous comment already, I’m just not sure that I would expect a cup of coffee from an espresso machine to be free. As mentioned previously, we get freshly roasted beans from an Australian... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Time spent at Brockley Estate is an experience entirely different from what you expect in conventional so-called ‘colonial’ accommodation. The 170-year-old sandstone and convict brick homestead blends seamlessly into its traditional Tasmanian landscape surroundings, with generous verandahs, ancient English trees and hawthorn hedges stretching down to the wide Prosser River.Inside, mellow antique furniture, textiles, pictures and ceramics exude an atmosphere of effortless elegance and good taste that would be almost impossible to replicate in a purely commercial context. With food and wine of a quality rarely encountered in a private house anywhere in Australia, this is genuine colonial country life as it really was and, one hopes, always will be if you know where to look. Now that you are indeed in the know, why not come and share it with us? ... more   less
