Has been three years since our first visit and pleased to say it was as good as the first time. Room was lovely (Lydbury), clean, comfortable and great view. Ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was brilliant. ALL staff were very nice with a special mention for Andrew and the housekeeper (sorry we didn't get to know... More

The staff were un-attentive, we had to search for someone when we needed them. The place was deserted of guests and when someone else finally arrived we were asked by one of the staff members to come down for dinner later as they had 4 guests eating at that time. God forbid a kitchen should have to cook for more... More

Its with regret we have to write this response & it is only after asking Tripadvisor to remove this review (to which we have been informed that can't) for its in accuracy that we feel we must sit down & 'defend' ourselves and explain in detail the above guests stay. The above guest and partner arrived with us a sunday... More

We visited this hotel for our Wedding Anniversary in January. First up, when I booked, they process was handled very well, although I would have liked to have received an email confirmation so that I knew the reservation held. We found the hotel easily enough, although it is a bit off the beaten track. The hotel itself is a beautiful... More

Looks very grand from the outside , there's a 5 minute drive from turning off the road to getting to the car park through rolling countryside - lovely views. No gym or spa but the food at dinner was well cocks and tasty and the full English breakfast was massive. Room was large and comfortable and as you'd expect for... More

I have written on TripAdvisor previously about Mellington Hall Hotel. We booked in advance knowing that it would be busy, it was humming when we arrived. The hall was positively a live wire, with ringing laughter and happy children. The hall had a grotto with a Santa, dont know where they got him from but he was excellent. The whole... More

In November I rang the hotel to see if they did afternoon and cost and what you got for your money, well sounded lovely choice of sandwiches, cream cakes and scones with cream an d jam all for £19.00 for two so I went a head and booked a afternoon tea for four on 11 December. The day arrived and we... More

The room was booked based on the number of glowing reviews on Tripadvisor. I think I must have crossed over into a parallel universe as the hotel we stayed in bore no resemblance to the place mentioned here. Granted, from the outside it's an imposing building and the setting and surrounding area is stunning. Our hopes were dashed however, once... More

Set among rolling hills in a classic creaky old manor house with period furniture it feels like you are staying in Downton Abbey. On one side this is pleasant if you feel the need to travel back in time, but unfortunately the service and facilities are also from the olden days... The wifi is terrible (ie non-existent) and you can... More

We have just spent two very relaxing nights at this grand Victorian country mansion. When we arrived, we were given a tour of all the suites and had our pick of the accommodation due to there being no other guests during the quiet time of midweek in November. Andrew, the very nice manager, gave us a tremendous deal on the... More
