We stopped by for lunch before going to the park and had a great meal of home cooked pies and cake. Be prepared to wait a little while for the food to be prepared by the husband and wife team, but it's worth the wait. While waiting buy some of the bird feed available and go outside and feed the... A lovely old-style guest house that offers honest to goodness ground up value. Teetering on the edge of amazing Tarra Bulga National Park, not only great friendly service can be found there, but the 'food' is incredibly good! We senses were stunned and relaxed into a blissful state. Yum!! Nina and Torben were incredibly hospitable and went over and beyond... More

My brother, sister and myself returned to Balook the village we grew up near, for a few days of nostalgia and reviving memories. We went to school at the Balook school and used to visit the Guest house , run My Miss King and Frank Tucker to buy lollies or broken biscuits. We stayed the 20th and 21st of February.... More

I spent a few days in the Aussie bush in an old fashioned guest house with shared bathroom facilities. Now that you've adjusted your expectations accordingly let me tell you how great this place is. It is quiet, really quiet (outside, the floors creak a bit inside). Nina and Torben are friendly and genuinely eager to please everyone. The food... More

If you like the idea of a relaxing weekend (or week) away from the madding crowd in a secret location high on the Strzelecki Range and deep in the rain forest of the Tarra-Bulga National Park, then contact Nina and Torben and drive to Balook. Torben is a registered carpenter and has had a previous life as a long-distance trucker... More

We had a really great time staying here last year. The local Tarra Bulga National Park was incredibly beautiful, tranquil and so reassuring that there are pockets like this still in the world. The service was fantastic :) Niki was really lovely and couldnt have been more helpful. She is also a great cook and the best thing was the... More

When we first arrived at Tarra-Bulga guest house, the owner Nici was warm and welcoming but understandably a little frazzled, having spent the day dealing with the kind of freak maintainence issues that would have most people tearing out their hair. Despite all this. she'd taken the time to arrange accomodation for us nearby and even prepared dinner for us... More

We stayed for two nights at The Tarra Bulga guest house in the beautiful Tarra-Bulga National Park. Nici is the most delightful and warm owner who gets to know her guests and offers them delicious food while taking special dietary needs in her stride. The rooms are clean, if very basic and in winter the lack of en-suite facilities makes... More

Spent two day here found it to be quiet and peaceful .Rooms were on the small size, but the meals where absolutely brilliant which made up for this. We where made welcome from the owner who went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful weekend here.
