To my shock all the ocean view rooms were taken so I thought I'd missed out, but the pool view room was great! Best of both worlds, sea and pool. The room was very clean, all the items you'd expect to find including a good sized fridge. (Eating out ever meal on the island can be a bit $$$)

Fearing the worst, our week's stay on Christmas Island was delightful. The Sunset was comfortable, Angela the owner was helpful and made our stay very pleasant. The room had a nice balcony with a table, a microwave, kettle and small refrigerator. Full kitchen facilities are available at the Lodge above the Sunset for your use. Christmas Island is not a... Fantastic value for money with stunning sunset views from our 1st floor balcony. Service was perfect , facilities were perfect. Close enough to everything by a couple minute car journey or a very short walk. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Accommodation is limited in CI, especially during Red Crab migration season. We booked this hotel based on recommendation from Trip Advisor readers. We were not disappointed. We had one of the 1st floor rooms facing the sea.Wonderful views of the sunset. Rooms were comfortable with air-conditioning. Angela the owner was a very friendly and helpful angel. She advised us about... More

E-mails are responded to promptly and efficiently. You can arrange car hire via them from Soongs car hire. (Having wheels is essential to get from the airport into town and look around the island unless you book the one taxi service for your airport transfers and go on the naturalist tour) When Soong wasn't at the airport to meet us... I have had multiple visits to Christmas Island this year and this is the first stay at sunset, Gary went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and I will stay here again for sure, lack of internet is a big issue on the island but the services here are great - thanks Gary!!

I was up at CI for work and this was a great base for me. The room was clean and functional. It was a little dated but still fine. The staff were friendly and helpful. The outlook was mint and this was a convenient spot for town and the detention centre as long as a car was available. I would... More

Accommodation options are limited on Christmas Island, but the Sunset is probably one of the best options. The top floor rooms provide for great views from the spacious balconies. The rooms were basic, but comfortable and cleaned daily. Overall you get the impression that the hotel is well run and well maintained. The pool area is a great place to... More

Let's get this out of the way first - there is no first-class accommodation on Christmas Island. The Sunset is my pick of the options though, and I feel pretty well qualified to judge, having just spend over 6 weeks on the island, rotating through several places. The location is excellent, with views of the ocean, and yes, of the... More

I stayed at The Sunset for a week in a top floor "Superior Ocean View" room. It was really nice to have a bigger room, and a large private balcony. The hotel was very comfortable, clean and very importantly had a fridge, WiFi and air-conditioning! The WiFi was flaky at times, but flaky is the calling card of the lovely... More
