Booked a room for our 39th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, the b&b confirmed it on Thursday morning. On Saturday half an hour before we were due to leave home the owner rang and asked "is that budgon" I replied my surname is Burden. She then said that "for whatever reason we are unable to offer you the facilities". Not only... More

For years I have travelled past the Blacksmiths Head on the school run and only ventured into the pub in the last few months. Although there is a saloon bar area with pool table, the separate dining area is well appointed and decorated. The food is very, very good and the Tuesday night specials on the homemade burgers (the pork... More

Sunday Lunch with friends. Good menu choice to suit all pockets. All the food was cooked beautifully and good size portions. Very good service with attentive staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely eat here again in this charming pub. Great fireplace that will be lovely on a cold winters day. Lovely garden too for summer... More

This pub/b&b is a very good place to eat and stay. The food is of very good quality and the breakfast was very good and is included in the £50 price per room. It is very good value. They are very flexible with times, when you arrive and also when the eight of us left. Nothing was any trouble. Would... More

The Blacksmith's Head is a delightful find for a lunchtime, relaxed gathering, lovely old world interior, plus a charming garden. The young lady behind the bar was both attractive and extremely helpful, taking my order with very careful attention - from a menu which offered almost endless choice from baguettes to main meals, our selection included burgers, chicken and "fish finger"... There were several of us meeting up for lunch. We had in fact chose a different venue but when we arrived there it was shut! We then drove onwards to this pub. We were met by a friendly face behind the bar and she was very helpful and happy to see us. The sun was out although it was a... More

The Blacksmith's Head is a place of contrasts as a B&B. My impression is that the landlady runs a good pub but is fairly new to offering accomodation. On the plus side the landlady is friendly and helpful, the room we had was spacious and warm with a very comfortable bed, there was a nice bath which filled quickly with... More

I was 50 in Dec 2013 and wanted a select few close friends and family to join me in celebrating my big 5-0! So after looking at the reviews on the Natwest Tastecard website I decided to start making enquiries. One of the main reason is because it's very local to us so it would be ideal if any one... More

As was staying on nearby caravan park fancied eating out and this was the nearest pub doing food. as it was a local pub did not have to high expectations. What a surprise, the food was delicious, an imaginative menu and the chef really knows what he is doing. Very reasonably priced, friendly service. pleasant environment. Far exceeded the quality... We stumbled upon this pub on a trip to West Sussex. The food was yummy and pretty reasonable considering the quality. The hostess was lovely and really made us feel welcome. I would recommend this anytime for a nice pub lunch/dinner - especially the homemade pies! :)
