Wow there are some really miserable reviewers on TA! This hostel has a really special feel to it. Yes it's a relatively big climb to get to and there is no wifi but the amazing view makes the climb worth it and the lack of wifi means you actually end up talking to each other! We met some great people... More

Takes a bit of getting used to but there was something quite special about this place. You should be aware that it is not the usual hostel stay though - you are sort of in the jungle so you have to be good with dealing with all kinds of bugs, very cold water showers and not much in the way... More

A friend and I stayed in one of the private rooms at Casa Loma Minca for 4 nights. We found it a great base from which to explore the area around Minca. The owner, Jay, helped us plan day trips including hiking, a visit to a family farm and a motor bike ride down the mountain to a beach. Coming... More

Casa Loma Minca is not for everyone - some may not enjoy the backpacker vibe, the long hike up and down the hill, etc. But if you're ok with these things, you'll enjoy your stay. We certainly did! The place is unique, comfortable, clean and friendly. The view is gorgeous, the food is great and affordable. It's easy to stay... More

As we climbed the couple of hundred steps carrying our backpacks we thought 'this had better be worth it' - it certainly was! Stunning views, fabulous cheap food, hammocks, camp fires, clean facilities - probably the best hostel we've ever stayed! The volunteer staff and friendly and helpful, advising things to do in Minca. Highly recommended - do not miss... More

The website is really promising, but the reality is different. They promise, for example, a tranquil spot. Well, the spot in itself, on top of the hill, is perhaps not that noisy, but the usual backpacker guest here is noisy indeed. This is really a budget hostel for people without any expectations. The walk uphill is really steep. Once in... More

Casa Loma is a very welcoming hostel. You have to climb a big hill to arrive. It's difficult, you are hot, you want to give up... But you have to keep climbing becauseit is worthy ! The food (vegetarian) is very good. At night, the atmosphere is so relaxing.. It is the perfect place to have a cold beer... You... More

I spent one night only in Casa Loma and wished I could have spent more time. This is the perfect site to get in touch with the nature and meet nice and chilled people. The rooms are wood made, and are fully equipped with all you would need in the forest! Anti mosquito filet, bed sheet for the night... They... More

The space available on the hill where the hostel is located is quite small and there is hardly any space to move when full. To reach the place is also quite strenuous as it can only be reached by foot. (many, many steps uphill). Said this, the hostel is clean and the food served delicious.

Visited in 3/14 with husband and 2 kids, ages 12 & 14. We stayed in Castillo in the upper back of the main house. The walk up was intense for me, not in good shape, 53, but I made it with the help of a nice employee who ran down and helped with my bag. If you're 20, no worries.... More
