Four of us stayed at the Old Bakery whilst on a family visit and we found the ultimate in B&B accommodation and service. The building itself is superb and has been lovingly and carefully restored to provide superior accommodation and comfort. The rooms are nicely and tastefully furnished and ensure a good night's sleep. The bathrooms are large and provided... More

Lovely welcome by Sarah on arrival, stayed in the Print room which was spacious and comfortable, with private bathroom just across the hall which was also large in size and spotlessly clean!... Breakfast was fab too, perfect scrambled eggs! Got a great email the day before the stay advising on restaurants and pubs serving food and drink near by which... More

We stayed for a long weekend while visiting family, staying in the Print Room. Lovely place to stay- David & Sarah are so welcoming & friendly. The room & bathroom were absolutely spotless- downside that the bathroom wasn't en-suite but actually it was all so nice it didn't matter! Breakfast was very good, orders placed the night before is a... More

We stayed in the Copper Room for a couple of nights in June and had a great stay. Room was very clean and comfortable, everything we needed but without the clutter of some places. Breakfast was excellent and all cooked fresh. Owners were really friendly and helpful with surrounding area knowledge. Would definitely recommend as a great place to explore... More

The building has an amazing charm, and David and Sarah are excellent hosts. Our room had magical charm, and it is clear why many of the guests are repeat visitors. Also, the back garden is an oasis, in what is already a gorgeous environment. Highly recommended.

A lovely peaceful wonderfully clean b&b. A lovely welcome from the hosts and a delicious breakfast, I would recommend a stay here any day. The old bakery has a really nice relaxed feel about it and it appears from the visitors book that their guests return again and again and I can understand why!

A very good example of a proper English B&B. Both Sarah and David were great and we felt very welcomed. The room (and house) was very well presented and clean with very good modern facilities but yet with a cosy feel. Great breakfast as well!

Not a great deal to add to previous reviews. Well set up, excellent facilities, very clean and comfortable, hosts who are helpful and interested without being intrusive, good food. The only possible downside is that as David and Sarah themselves say, the rooms "do not have wonderful soundproofing". So, if fellow guests want to be noisily inconsiderate, you'll know. But... More

Just returned from my first visit to the old bakery and can't wait for my next trip back! I had a lovely large double room with a private bathroom complete with jacuzzi bath, (didn't have time to use it sadly!). David and Sarah are wonderful hosts and made me feel very welcome, Sarah makes the best scrambled eggs too! Would... More

A superb B&B in every respect. Comfortable, clean, and cosy. Very comfortable and roomy bedroom with lots of nice extra 'touches' and an immaculate en-suite shower etc. Wonderful breakfast with a wide choice, especially the smoked salmon & scrambled egg. Yum, Yum. All that and Marmite as well ! We arrived after a particularly stressful drive from the Midlands. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Old Bakery is a comfortable and stylish Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the village of Uffculme in Mid-Devon. The property is about 300 years old and although totally modernised, retains many of its original features. The bakery has now been converted into a games room which is popular with our younger (and older!) visitors. We have a stunning courtyard to the rear of the house where breakfasts may be served in the summer, and you can take afternoon tea in the beautiful walled garden which has wonderful views over the rooftops of Uffculme to the rolling Blackdown Hills beyond. In our home you have a choice of four comfortable rooms with en suite and private bathrooms and single, double and 4-poster beds. The large rooms have space for an extra fold-up bed on request. Uffculme is in the heart of an incredibly beautiful area of mid-Devon, full of wonderful places to explore whatever your interests, stunning countryside and breathtaking views and walks. We are within easy reach of many renowned beauty spots and are close to Tiverton, Cullompton, Wellington, Honiton, Taunton and Exeter. About 30 minutes drive from the nearest sandy beaches at Exmouth, the north coast of Devon can be reached in about 50 minutes. ... more   less
