Superb food excellent food. Have stayed here a few times now and the food gets better and better, you won't be disappointed ! friendly staff not only was our evening meal great but the breakfast was delicious. If I was being picky one small complaint try to serve breakfasts earlier, 8.30am half the day has gone!

We recently visited for the first time, celebrating a birthday and whilst it takes a little navigating to get to (if you think your sat nav is better than following the hotel's directions!) it is well worth it when you get there. The first staggering sight when you are taken to your lodgings for the night is the huge garden... More

We arrived later than anticipated & decided to move our dinner reservation on an hour which was good, as we had a very nice 1/2 bottle of champagne on ice awaiting us in our room. What an amazing room. In the new house across the road from the restaurant, we had a 1st floor room with beautifully appointed furnishings -... More

I've wanted to go to the Black Swan, Oldstead, North Yorkshire for quite sometime and eventually made it on Saturday evening, with friends. It certainly did not disappoint. We had booked the evening including accommodation as we lived beyond easy travelling distance. My first contact by telephone was very good with James being very helpful. We arrived late afternoon and checked... More

Was lucky enough to be taken here and experience the nine course tasting menu. What an amazing meal. Certainly in my top two. Loved everything about this place, from the bar snacks to start to the crazy lollipop course!!! The food was unreal. I've never tasted tomatoes like it. Anyone with half an interest in food should save all their... More

Arrived late afternoon to a very friendly welcome. The room was lovely and dinner was simply gorgeous. The staff were extremely switched on and when I expressed an interest in the kitchen gardens at breakfast, I was swiftly offered the chance of a tour by one of the chefs. The chefs are so passionate about growing and producing great food,... More

Our sons arranged this for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The inn is family owned, very old and full of character. Our room was small but amply big enough for getting around in my wheelchair. It was beautifully furnished with antique furniture and the four poster bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was, again, furnished with antiques and was very genuinely... More

We visited last weekend and were fortunate/lucky enough to be accommodated in the Georgian town house about 20/30 yards away from the restaurant, which has only been open for a short while...................we were put in the Gilleberg room...............FANTASTIC!!!! If I could I would have lifted it up and taken it back home with me...............................it was the most beautiful, calm room... More

The room we had was in a separate building 20 yards up the road. We were told they had only started using the room earlier that week. The room was not very big but was very thought out and comfortable. The bathroom was very good with a huge range of Moulton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was excellent
