My husband stayed for 4 days on a business trip in late October and couldn't fault it. The service, hospitality and especially the hosts, Alistair and Clair were second to none. As a treat my husband took me back there on November 6th for 3 nights, whereby we both enjoyed a fantastic weekend. On the first evening whilst having an... More

A traditional, well-run, comfortable and welcoming pub – at a good price. Excellent alternative to over-priced, over-crowded, parking-ferocious central Bath, just a few easy miles from the centre of town. Good, honest pub with good, honest rooms. We paid £80 for a well-sized double, modern and clean, with big ensuite featuring spacious storm-force shower. No noise, as well away from... More

Staying here for 1 night and what a shame. Claire the landlady has been brilliant and very welcoming, the food is exceptional and you must try the blue cheese burger. To follow a great plate of cheese and biscuits and a red wine just to make me sleep!! Overall you must come here and sample food and the great hospitality... More

Yet again another one night stay for me. This is week above the average for hotel accommodation in this price bracket. My room was compact but ample, a decent wifi connection, good food and a rather excellent Full English breakfast. Good beers on hand pump too. Would I return? Yes

My husband and I have recently moved into the village and with our welcome pack to Marshfield we received a flyer for a complimentary meal at The Nelson. We visited this week and had two delicious main courses completely free. We have since been back for an excellent Sunday carvery which was very good value and delicious. The owners are... More

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at the Lord Nelson and I wasn't disappointed. My bedroom was large, clean and value for money. The food in the pub is excellent and the night I was there, it was lively and buzzing with a lovely log fire blazing. As I was leaving early before the chef arrived to cook breakfast,... More

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend break. Overall, our experience was a good one. The food on both evenings was very good for pub food. We had the fish and chips on the first night which was excellent as were our rump steaks on the Saturday night which were of very good quality and perfectly cooked. There... More

Friendly, helpful staff. My room was large, clean with the most powerful shower I have ever experienced! Food in the pub was excellent. A very homely atmosphere. Good location only 15 minutes from Bath.

Sunday lunch- Carvery good value although no system for regulating the queue waiiting at the Carvery which blocked our table.Unusually no 'greens' available as a vegetable. Deserts menu offered but after 20 minutes wait and 'asking' the proprietor why the delay- response 'they will be there'- menu arrived. None of our party was prepared to wait any further, particularly having... More
