A quintessential English country pub. Thatched roof, inglenook fireplace with open fires, low ceilings, creaky floor boards , friendly dog and welcoming landlords. Set in beautiful countryside with lots of good walks and places to visit. It is also dog welcoming. This pub is a great place to stay for a few days. It is cosy and welcoming. Dave is... More

This was a lucky find as we had been directed to other eateries and couldnt understand why this one hadnt been mentioned. We subsequently were told that reports on the food had varied. Well, we obviously struck lucky on a dark and stormy night. My companions had Steak pie, a Pasta dish and I had just cheesy chips and garlic... More

We stayed here Monday to Thursday, but ended up wishing we could have stayed longer. The rooms are homely and very reasonably priced. The meals we ate were delicious across the board, with the highlights being the fish/ steak and ale pie, and the Barnsley chop. We ended each day back at the pub, always being welcomed with a friendly... More

Booked on line and boy what a fantastic night me and work colleague Jay boy had in the company of the Linda and the very funny man Dave Aka (Dara O'Brien). Its one of my funniest nights away, The food was fantastic the Wessex Cider was... More

We have just returned from a two night stay, Dave and Linda give you a very warm welcome and Trigger the dog is there with a friendly wagging tail too. The food was well cooked and served with a smile. Our room was a good size and although over the bar was not too noisy. However, what let the room... More

Stayed here over the weekend. Overall everything was excellent! The building has plenty of charm, it does not have the biggest rooms but they are well decored and spotlessly clean! Food is excellent! Everything well seasoned and cooked perfectly, the beers were good and the wine selection great for my other half. Beautiful large garden which is extremely well maintained!... More

Just returned from overnight stay at this beautiful 15th century inn. Had a wonderful time and would definitely return. Rooms are fairly basic but very clean. Noisy electric toilet in room 3 and had creaky floorboards, but this kind of added to the charm of the place. Landlord Dave has a very dry sense of humour, however, scratch beneath the... More

We were booked in here by our work, and read some of the past reviews stating that the landlord and staff were rude and not welcoming. All I can say is they must of been having a bad day when these people visited. We have been made to feel like part of their family, even having a pint with them... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night, was originally going to be two but plans changed and Im glad they did, the food here is superb, slightly pricey but when you have a great meal you dont mind, our room was small but taking into account the age and design of the B&B that was expected but the... Visited as recommended in CAMRA guide. Pub is very pretty and nice inside as well. food good but pricey (not worth price tag i dont think) Beer was excellent and service friendly. No phone signal and variable WIFI provision so no good if you need to stay in touch. Double room very reasonable price although a bit twee it goes... More
