Friendly and helpful staff.. nice place to chill out at the beginning or end of the Hadrians wall Cycle way or Walk. 5 mile to the official start/end of the walk. Food good, so so beer and reasonable comfortable room but very stuffy with no fan or A/C and very noisy in rooms next to the road.. moderately priced too... More

Stayed one night and found the hotel/hostel to be adequate for what I needed. I wouldn't stay here with my wife or family but friendly barmaid and good prices, Never ate but the meals I saw looked plentiful. Bathroom tiny but shower was hot, bed comfortable enough to sleep but no luxuries if that's what you want. A working mans... More

This hotel is ideally suited for the beginning or end of Hadrian's wall walk and as such could potentially cas in on a niche market. Unfortunately, I can't imagine anyone would want to stay here in it's current condition. The place is generally run down and tired, not unforgivable in itself but mouldy bread and dirty crockery are. Unusually for... More

Ive just returned from a weekend in newcastle. ... and although the hotel was very run down and in need of some TLC... the location was perfect. It's right by the Metro so it was perfect to get into town... if you are looking for somewhere that has basic requirements and is cheap. . This is the place.

We stayed in this hotel because it is close to the start of The Hadrian's Wall Walk and the Metro (Hadrian Road) from Newcastle Central Station. Yes, the hotel itself is tired, but the service is friendly, food (diner & breakfast) is very acceptable and the rooms, although quite small, are clean with comfortable bed. Would recommend for overnight stay.

This hotel was advised to us. The personal is friendly without any doubt. The accommodation is really out of date. Every room is different with their own problems. Rooms at the street side are very noisy because of the road. Compared to other hotels in Newcastle this hotel may be a less expensive, however; if this is worth the difference... More

Me and a friend stayed here 26th of April 2014. Wasn't in the best location but was an ok stay. Room was clean enough and service was good but room was very cold and could hear everything through the walls.

We spent there like 3 nights, back in 2010. Not bad, fairly clean, quiet. More like a hostel though than a hotel, contrary to what the name would suggest. :) Good breakfast though. Overall, pretty decent - might be a good option for a short stay if you don't expect the place where you stay to be something you remember... More

Visited here for a wedding in the area and stayed for 2 nights. All pretty basic, rooms ok but no sound deadening as I could hear a lad in the next room fart like a trombone. Cooked breakfast was enjoyable and decent beer
