The trip to Sussex was one to relive my memories of Handcross from 50 years ago. I was thrilled that The Granary was on The Estate where I stayed all those years ago. The whole trip with my wife was a great success. Margo made us very welcome to her home which she has transformed into a beautiful restful haven.... More

From booking through to breakfast the level of service at The Hyde was top notch. Spotlessly clean, very freindly welcome and delicious breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Fully recommended, and we will return!

I'd just echo all the other reviews. It's a very pleasant, clean, comfortable place to stay. It's nicely tucked away from main roads, one of a group of converted outbuildings on a private estate set among woods and fields. Quiet and peaceful. The food at the Red Lion - a mile and half's walk, or 10 mins' cycle - was... More

Margot made us feel so welcome. She was extremely helpful in recommending walks in the local area and The Red Lion for supper. Lovely home cooked breakfasts with a wide range of choice. A beautiful and peaceful setting. Will be recommending to family and friends.

One of the nicest stays in a B&B for a long while. Margot has a beautiful light and serene home which has been renovated to a very high standard. Simple attention to detail is everywhere, from beautiful furniture and artwork, to lovely eco-friendly toiletries and a scrumptious breakfast with homemade breads, stewed fruits and jams. I was in heaven! It's... More

Margot was very attentive and careful to make us feel like the only people at the BnB. The Granary is bright, very clean and has beautiful touches that make it feel homely. The rooms are spacious and the roll top bath in our bedroom, was a great luxury with sweet smelling toiletries that show hints of Margot's background as a... More

We stayed with Margot overnight in November. Delightful place in wonderful surroundings close to village with excellent dining. Margot is the perfect hostess with creative flair, fabulous home coking and thoughtful attention to detail. I'm gluten free and Margot had bread and snacks I could eat. Gorgeous toiletries and spotlessly clean. Guarantee you will enjoy your stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hyde Granary is a converted Victorian Granary with one double room en-suite situated in the old grain-store, and another double bedroom above the old stable. The house has been lovingly converted and has many beautiful features including thick sandstone interior walls, Cornish slate entrance hall, minstrel’s gallery, and lovely natural light from the glass dome over the staircase. The small private garden is a haven for birds and has wonderful raised views of sunrise and sunset. It is a quiet and peaceful for sitting with a cup of tea at the end of the day. There are two miles of private drive surrounded by woodland and farmland, offering a chance for walking whilst viewing the local wildlife. Deer, foxes, badgers, woodpeckers, and buzzards are all seen regularly. The Hyde Granary is situated close to Brighton, and Gatwick Airport, but not under the flight path! There are many National Trust houses and gardens to visit locally, such as Wakehurst, Nyman’s Gardens and Sheffield Park. The village is within walking distance and has three pub restaurants. ... more   less
