Stayed 3 nights here purely as a non expensive base to explore near by. We were very pleasantly surprised with the high standard ! The bar and restaurant was very very good with a 4* standard of food and service, we ate at the George The rooms were large enough, clean and comfortable but quite basic in decor and furnishings.... My wife and I stayed here for two nights for our mini-moon. It was expensive for what it was, the food is overpriced. The room was ok but the ceiling in the bathroom was pealing and we didn't have an actual shower, just a head in the bath. Also you could hear every time someone in the downstairs room turned... More

I visited the George for a few drinks this evening with a couple of friends. We were sat in the bar when a dispute arose between the bar lady and a customer. The bar lady tried to avoid the confrontation but the customer kept on to the point the bar lady actually had to leave. This incident made us feel... More

Thank you for your review. As locals you you know this was a one-off incident and we have never in our 2.5 years of owning The George had such an confrontation between staff and guests before. It was an unfortunate incident, but one that can occur anywhere. Thankfully it was a one-off for us. The customer in question is a... More

This place is full of atmosphere and character. The room was really lovely with beautiful views across the village from two aspects. We stayed in room 10 which had a lovely four poster bed. Quite a few stairs to go up but well worth the effort. Look forward to staying there again.

Stayed at a local B&B and were told this is the place to come for an evening meal, thank goodness they also warned us of the portion sizes. It was so good we booked for the following three nights! The food, service and decor were fantastic. Don't go if you want a three course meal because chances are you'll only... More

My partner and I stayed here at the end of July while doing trips to Longleat and Cheddar Gorge (perfectly placed for both). We stayed for one night, and we were very impressed with this lovely little Inn. It is absolutely gorgeous inside, with modern refurbishments mingled into a classic character property. It looked and felt more expensive than it... More

There has obviously been a lot of money spent on a re-furb, not necessarily by someone with a love or understanding of pubs! On the up-side it was spotless, the staff were excellent and the drinks in good condition; on the down, it feels and looks like a chain hotel...and the prices are steep. The style is out of keeping... More

Thank you for taking the time to review The George at Nunney. Obviously we are disappointed you didn't like the new look of The George, and of course it is, as you say down to taste. However since completing the renovation we have had nothing but compliments of the new look. We understand certain customers prefer the traditional 'pub' look... More

A lovely quiet 17th Century coaching Inn, at Nunney at Frome, never heard of before, but discovered down a typical country lane. Complete with an excellent active local church and a Medieval castle, complete with moat. perfect for a quiet relaxing weekend.

We recently stayed here and used the George as our base to visit surrounding areas, we were lucky that the weather was lovely and it was a pleasure after a day out to come back and chill in the beer garden, the place is very well looked after and all the staff from the lady in charge to the cleaner...
