I just returned from a 7 night stay at Hotel Vauban in Briancon, France. I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. The room appeared to have been recently updated with fresh paint and new flooring. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was very typical of a European hotel. The dinners we ate every night at... More

Furniture from the 60ies, 70ies, small bathroom from the late 60ies, lighting in the corridor out of order, walls spotted, disgusting dirty wall to wall carpet, rolling shutter at the window of the room out of order. If you want to see something original from the late 60ies unrestored: go for! If not: leave it immediately!

Room was furnished with the 80's things and everything was old and not in good shape. Hallways looked even poorer than the rooms. Lights were partly attached to the ceiling, some of them were hanging from the electric wires. Staff was friendly and breakfast fairly ok.

Julie, the new owner and Maitre De, is extremely helpful and friendly. Her plans for renovation will elevate this hotel to where it should be. The hotel is well located in the heart of this beautiful city with an ancient and well cared for old citadel town. Jonathan and his cycling mates

We had very nice stay here. The owners were very helpful especially since we don't speak French. They called for us to see if a place in the mountains was available. The rooms are older but very clean. As someone noted that have a lovely friendly black lab.

If you need these things you will find them here but otherwise it is a dull and dreary hotel - but everything works. The Chinese restaurant about a 5 minute walk away isn't wonderful but staff are friendly.

Third floor front rooms have balconies, bath tubs and electric roll down shutters. Convenient to tram, bus, grocery, banks, and short but steep walk to old town. Very nice helpful management and friendly dog!

This hotel has had better times but is not degenerated. The rooms are clean and large, the sanitary is sufficient. The restaurant is quite good.

We just got back from a weeks skiing in the Serre Chevalier valley. We stayed at the Hotel Vauban which I can highly recommend as a base. It does have a little of a 1970s feel to it, but you have to remember this IS France! It is located in Briancon which is right at the very end of the... More

On the plus side, the hotel is excellently located. The ski lift is just a few minutes away on foot. There are automated blinds for the window, so you can sleep in complete darkness. Showering is possible in the room and in a shared shower is available in the hall, so you don't need to queue! Parking is available for... More
