We needed food before a train journey and the place was close and looked friendly. Never again will I allow a Frenchman to be rude about English cuisine: The panini were half cooked as if they had been taken from the freezer and micro-waved on too low a power. I stayed here with friends and found it to be a great little inexpensive hotel. There might not be too many luxuries, but the basic rooms are comfortable and the downstairs bar/restaurant does decent food. Hotel de Le Gares are found in just about every French town, and this example continues in the same long standing tradition. Hotel de la Gare has been facing the railway station in Briancon for years. If you're arriving here, it's convenient. I think it's the cheapest or second cheapest hotel in Briancon. This is a one star hotel. Briancon could be defined as partly a higher priced than average two star haven and partly a quite highly priced three star city.... More
