Now, on our last two visits we have nearly been overcharged for the (included) evening meal - although we booked for the dinner, bed and breakfast rate (so beware and check your check out bill as I did - again)! This time we stayed in the Ash Cottage and it was very disappointing compared to the other rooms we have... More

We stayed here for 1 night, took our dog, on a breakfast and dinner package. We had a superior room which had a separate lounge area and huge bedroom, clean but in my opinion not really what I call superior. The bathroom let it down, took ages for the hotwater. The room overlooked the car park in a separate building... More

My parents held their Diamond Wedding Anniversary lunch at Ghyll Manor on Easter Sunday. They hired a small private function room that had doors leading onto the terrace with views over the lovely grounds. The large oval table, which seated all 17 of us comfortably, looked lovely covered with a crisp white cotton tablecloth, napkins, silver cutlery and sparkling glasses.... More

I'd recommend the Ghyll Manor restaurant. We had a family lunch here on Easter Sunday. The food was tasty and well presented and very good value for the price. The gravy might have been generic across all meats but I forgave them that as the roast potatoes were excellent! The surrounds are beautiful, the inside comfortable, the log fire in... More

This was the third cream tea my family and I have had here. We previously had them in the lounge area on lovely comfy sofas in relaxed surroundings. This time we were told the teas were now served in the conservatory. This is a little more formal. The staff are all lovely, very polite and helpful. The tea, like last... More

I won a nights stay here in a competition. On arrival they upgraded us to a cottage room. The bedroom and bathroom were large and we had a nice lounge. It was clean and we had a very comfortable king size bed. We had dinner in the restaurant (not part of the prize) and it was one of nicest meals... More

I went here for Mothers day lunch, and we were a party of 7, we met in the lounge before our lunch, and when we went throught to the restaurant, there was no one meeting or greeting and no one appeared to be paying any attention. We stood in the door way for 5 minutes or so before makeing our... More

I booked Ghyll as a 40th surprise the night before flying out to a surprise destination in the sun! Frankly the deal offered was amazing, a little over £200 for their four poster "honeymoon" suite, three course dinner, breakfast, park the car for two weeks and have private taxi transfers to and from Gatwick thrown in! I did a "dummy... More

My husband and I received a gift of afternoon tea at Ghyll Manor booked for February. When we arrived, we were gestured into a room in an offhand manner by the receptionist, who told us there should be some tables laid up in there. The remainder of our dealings were with a very dour waiter, who delivered everything to us... More

Thank you for your review, and I was disappointed to hear that you did not fully enjoy afternoon tea with us as would have wished; we pride ourselves upon our service levels, and clearly did not do ourselves justice on this occasion. However, to put our Afternoon Tea in perspective compared with the 2 hotels you mention, Dukes in London... More

We had 3 superior rooms or cottages. Each had a small sitting room where the five of us sat and chatted with a cup of tea and cake. We used special offers for D,B&B for Saturday and Sunday night. Very good, freshly cooked breakfasts and excellently presented dinners. Friendly helpful staff. Nice modern bar and conservatory with comfy lounge with... More
