We're a little beyond the age of staying in hostels and prefer little nicer accommodations but you can't get better for a hike of Chirripo when it comes to convenience. We booked one of the 2 private rooms ( 1 night prior and 1 night after) with private bathrooms, it was fairly nice, lot's of open windows but it's in... More

I stayed in this place for two nights in a shared room with 6 beds. The room was very beautiful and spacious. They have a very nice kitchen area too and a lounge. Generally it looks like the place has been build/decorated with love, it is a really pleasant place to stay. The staff were very helpful too. One of... More

Casa Mariposa has a nice common area and an assortment of rooms available. We spent one night in a more rustic room with a shared bathroom, and one night in a more private (and cleaner) room with a private bathroom. None of the rooms had air conditioning, which is common in Costa Rica, but our private bathroom had very good... More

Friendly welcome, you really feel at home in beautiful surroundings. We had a very pretty room, nicely decorated and with view on the forest (we could hear the noises at night..). Perfect spot to begin hikes in the area. Wouldn't have minded staying longer.

This was a great place to stay while visiting the Chirripo region. I stayed one night then left to hike the mountain the next morning. My (pregnant) wife stayed there while I hiked and loved visiting with the other guests, exploring the area, and hanging out in the hammocks. The employees are all great and the rooms are neat and... Loved every moment at this place. Perfectly designed to accommodate travellers needs. Friendly, homely feeling on arrival but the staff are super knowledgeable about the area too. Dorm can be a little noisy but little the hostel can do about unprepared hikers repacking their bags at 4am. Their brownies are to die for and their recommendation for eating at the... More

We stayed two nights prior to our hike up Chirripo and one night after coming back down. PROS: - Extensive information and maps of all area attractions, Chirripo, travel information near or in nearby cities - Responsive via email and in person regarding all questions and inquiries - Very friendly and amiable staff that were always on site and available... This beautiful cosy and warm hostel was exactly what we were looking for. It's up in the region of Chirripo amongst the majestic mountains..it offers a perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of Costa Rica. The private room with bathroom felt secluded and immaculately cared for. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming and genuinely care about... More

This place is absolutely amazing. The people who run it are so kind. The beds are SO comfortable. There's free coffee and tea. They can do your laundry. They can lend you hats and gloves for the climb (life saver). They can keep your stuff while you climb. The communal area is really cute and the kitchen is fully equipped.... More

I spent 2 nights at Casa Mariposa and I can highly recommend it. The house is located in a beautiful surrounding and it's a perfect start point to hike Chirripo or other park's attractions. My host was Marc who very smoothly explain me the house's rules and he was always ready to help me and take care of any issues.... More
