We had a terrific time at Chalalan. Our guide Mario was fantastic and beyond knowledgeable of the region and evey little thing in the forest. Meals were filling and yummy. The cabañas were very nice and comfortable. We went on some great walks and Mario pointed out very interesting facts everywhere we went. The wildlife we saw each day was... More

Mario was our guide during our visit and did a great job! We learnt a lot about the jungle and the animals in it. He was really good at spotting animals and birds, and following them off-track to find them if necessary. Really exciting experience. We saw: various types of monkeys, macaws a tucan, a snake, tarantulas, caimans and many... More

I spent four days at the Ecolodge & left amazed at the skills & talents of the local community who put this all together. The accommodations were clean, well designed, functional mosquito tents. Mahogany decks around the buildings beautiful. Our guide took us on day & night hikes to see as much nature as possible. We even took day &... More

Many visitors choose to 3 or more nights. Since it was so hard to get to the center of Madidi National Park and being difficult to have the opportunity to return if coming from far away, you should get the most. You can always stay a few extra days if you want, but it's best to plan to stay a... More

It was an incredible experience that will stay with me forever. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, nice rooms and all in a beautiful, isolated spot. The boat trip took us 6 hours due to the current of the river, but every minute was full of incredible scenery. Spoke to others later on in our travel who had stayed at other lodges... More

In Chalalan we are aware that many of our guests travel long distances to reach the lodge, so we do everything possible to provide a service that meets the expectations of visitors. We appreciate you for taking the time to comment and would be happy to receive you again if returned to Bolivia. More

The entire staff contributed to an exciting experience: our English-speaking guide, the wait staff in the dining room, the other workers who took us behind their homes to see the monkeys cavorting in the trees. the night walk, canoe and other guided hikes, the visit to the parrot hatchery in the cliff on our way back to Rurrenbaque, comfortable accomodations,... Short: The 5 hour boat ride is worth it!! You stay in a comfortable bungalow with a restaurant that provides tasty food. Most important, our guide Juan-Carlos was a well educated (he knows the names of the animals in spanish, english and latin), friendly and helpful person. Thanks to all the animals that did NOT hide.

Indeed, our guides are well aware of the jungle where they were born and raised, but with great effort and after intense training, also know their names even in Latin, known details about their lifestyles and can explain the natural history of many animal and plant species, both Spanish and English. Thanks for the comment and for the beautiful photos.... More

We had heard good things about Chalalan lodge and it did not disappoint! We'd been to another Amazon lodge in Ecuador, and although good, this was better. We stayed for four nights and saw a huge variety of birds and plantlife. We also saw snakes, caimans and some larger mammals although we just missed seeing a jaguar which had killed... More

The Chalalan Ecolodge experience defied my expectations. The food, lodging, and guided tours all exceeded what I thought would be a "basic" excursion. The guide's knowledge of the area and his passion for the innate qualities that make Chalalan a very special place was quite evident. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality and their involvement in this special community––I will... More

Chalalan is in the middle of the Madidi National Park and is owned by the indigenous people of San José de Uchupiamonas, visit contributed to both the community and the preservation of this sanctuary, and therefore we are very grateful for their contribution. Thank you very much for your comment. More

I enjoyed my time at Chalalán immensely. I stayed 3 nights. My guide, Yhovani Valdes Cuqui, is extremely knowledgable. I speak general Spanish which was great because the other couple was Bolivian from La Paz. My guide however has excellent English. He, also, knows the Latin names for the plants and animals. Without him I wouldn't have gotten 1/10th out... More

Chalalan is somewhat like a natural laboratory, because for almost 20 years, the lodge has created a perimeter of strict exclusion of hunting but also has avoided any form of alteration of the ethology of the local fauna, such as avoiding animal feeding by visitors or workers. We have also sought any form of ptotección environmental quality of the lake... More
