I was very nervous of my B&B booking at this Inn because of the previous bad reviews. But as some other reviewers have stated since the bad reviews, the Inn has changed hands and is now under the management of professional hosts who have obviously been working hard since October 2015 to raise the standards. The outside of the premises... More

Under new management, The Barleycorn is a totally different place! Attentive and friendly staff, lovely food, good choice of drinks, great atmosphere and nice ambience. They've performed miracles in a short space of time and I suspect it will get even better still. If you've been in the past and were disappointed, give it another go. It's lovely!

We are really pleased to welcome the new team - Darren, Katerina, Bob & Mary. Good food, good atmosphere & a friendly welcome. We have a local pub which we are happy to visit & have enjoyed a Sunday lunch & bar snacks recently.

Wow, a fabulous place to visit. Bob, Mary, Katerina and Darren made you feel welcome. A lovely fire lit in the bar. The room was big and comfortable with all the normal items of an established pub - yea and coffee making facilities. Nice bathroom. Had a great game of indoor boules with some of the local patrons. The meal... More

We found this pub by chance online and were a bit concerned about previous reviews. However, the Barleycorn has recently been taken over by new management. We found the hosts extremely friendly and welcoming. Our accomodation in the old carriage house was spacious, quiet and spotlesslessly clean. Dinner was delicious. Food is cooked to order and local game is the... More

Newly taken over so very limited menu but the steaks were perfectly cooked, the chips fresh, crispy & hot and the Israeli cous cous interesting. The home made fennel bread was delicious as was the home made chocolate mousse. This was a good starter menu and we look forward to revisiting in a few weeks time and seeing an increased... More

Room and bathroom okay, no coffee or wifi in bedroom, also no toilet roll or towels, had to ask for these. Freezing cold as no heating in room or pub. Manager had done a bunk for a few days and pub in process of changing hands - no wonder there weren't any locals in there. Left in the hands of... More
