OK. We were walking the wall with dogs. We experienced accommodation that was variously dog unfriendly, dog tolerant, dog welcome but this was doggie heaven. All 4 of us (2 people, 2 dogs) were given a really warm welcome. Maureen made us a pot of tea and not long after appeared with chopped up sausage for the dogs. We had... More

This is a beautiful historic building which has been renovated with modern rooms. From the moment I arrived I realized Maureen had to be one of the most genuinely kind people I had ever met! She offered me her washer for my muddy clothes, then set to getting tea and biscuits ready. She had already made me a reservation at... More

I stayed there with friends after completing the wall walk, it is in the perfect place, just opposite the finish point. Its very clean, comfortable and modern. Maureen was a fantastic host, with as much tea, coffee and biscuits as you can manage. The breakfast was also delicious.

We stayed here for one night at the end of our Hadrians Wall walk, the owner, Maureen, could not have been more helpful and kind. The accomodation was just perfect for us, we had the place to ourselves!

I needed a room for a few nights whilst working in the Bowness area. I would be out working most of the time so all I really needed was a place to check my e-mails and get my head down at night for a decent price. I booked the Old Chapel and to be honest I didn't expect too much,... More

I had a very warm and comfortable stay at The Old Chapel on Wednesday 9 April 2014. After walking Hadrian's Wall in four days I was certainly tired when I arrived at Bowness. Maureen was so welcoming and friendly. The well deserved shower was super hot and there was a very powerful hairdryer and even a bath robe in the... More

Last night of our wall walk was spent at this excellent B&B. Only 50 yards from the start/ finish of the walk so really convenient. We were able to leave our car here the previous weekend on our way to Newcastle (the car parking fee going to charity), which was also very helpful. Also Maureen had booked us a table... More

Ended the Hadrian's wall walk here and were made to feel very welcome. Arriving early wasn't a problem, and the rooms were very comfortable. Spent the afternoon relaxing and chatting with Maureen and Michael. Maureen was very generous in her time. The laundry facilities were welcome. It made for a lovely end to our walk, and left a lasting impression.

I walked the wall from walls end, and ended up at the chapel late in the evening without a booking, but I was still warmly welcomed to this lovely B&B, and even got a vegetarian breakfast! I had many a conversation with Michael and Maureen, and Michael even took me for a trip in his car! I would without a... More

The Old Chapel is a delightful place to stay. We had the warmest of welcomes and Maureen's generosity was overwhelming. Our room was comfortable, clean and very well equipped for the weary walker completing Hadrian's Wall Path (bath and foot spa especially welcome). The breakfast was delicious, and set us up for our 1st leg of The Wall. I would... More
