Wickham Lodge is situated in Ayelsford near Maidstone. From there you can easily explore Kent by car. 2 minutes walk you find a pub with view to an old stonebridge over the river. The river room is very nice, has 2 beds for 3 and you stay in a many hundred year old house with a wonderful terraced garden. Breakfast... More

My wife and I booked a single night here as we wanted to escape from home for a night to eat out and celebrate a birthday and anniversary - we travelled all of 12 miles to get here and the taxing journey was well worth it!! On arrival the sun was still beating down and the wonderful riverside setting and... More

Aylesford is a delightful village and the house is in a beautiful setting by the River Medway. Richard and Cerith are pleasant hosts and their breakfasts are delicious. The Friary is worth a visit for light lunches but it wasn't so easy finding food in the evening. The driveway into the property is nerve wrackingly narrow and tricky to exit... More

Down the rather narrow entrance you find an amazing riverside oasis of old fashioned quality. Character house, great breakfast, quiet, there's wifi (though I didn't get it to work, probably me), the hosts have a great sense of humour, and at £45 you can't go wrong.

We have visited friends who live in Aylesford village several times over the past few years and now as their family has grown we have begun staying in area B&B or hotel accomodations. On the recommendation of our local friends, we booked into Wickham Lodge for this visit. The Wickham Lodge website does a better job of accurately and fully... More

“Please don’t kill the cat,” said Wickham Lodge owner Cherith Bourne. It seemed like a reasonable request. The cat – black, snoozing and catching the last of the Autumn sun – was sprawled on the edge of a gravel driveway outside the converted stable where we were staying … and near the wheel of our hire car. We’d driven back... More

What an amazing place! This old house is so full of character, the garden is delightful and being so close to the river adds a charm of its own. The delightful rooms each had their own character and were equipped with everything we needed (including fresh milk in the fridge). The owners, Cherith & Richard, made us feel so welcome... More

our first visit and hopefully not our last, the friendly warm welcome and the homely atmosphere were amazing. Cherith and Richard made you feel very welcome in this beautifully appointed B&B, the views down the river are superb, the terraced garden a delight. the rooms are comfortable with everything you could need, especially liked the choice of teas and coffees.... We keep returning to this gem, with a no-fuss welcome from Cherith and Richard. Situated just 5 minutes off the M20 in a secluded part of a quiet town, its restful gardens, rising through steep terraces from the river front, are packed with horticultural interest and fun. "Park your car in the second vineyard on the left" is a rare... More
