We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on Islay. The room and bathroom were nice but they need updating. The food was amazing. We had been looking forward to some nice seafood when we came to Islay and this hotel didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, will definitely be back.

Staff (esp. Lorna, Debbie & Mary) could not be more helpful & accommodating. We arrived ~4 hours late off the ferry yet the hotel kept the kitchen open and cooked us 5 exquisite 3 course dinner combinations. All the meals we ate in the hotel were amazing. Beautiful fresh seafood and those that had the lamb at the wedding dinner... More

It's the people who make hospitality: this applies as much to the staff as it does to the guests. It is really kind of you to give us such a glowing review - as I put in the previous review, we loved having the wedding and hope you'll come and stay with us again. More

We have just returned from a family wedding at the weekend and had a fabulous time. Most importantly, the best wedding meal we've had! Lorna and the team were so hospitable, a proper home from home experience with great food and drink. Suite was spotless and spacious for a family of 4, can't wait to head back when we return... We really enjoyed the wedding too - such a shame the weather wasn't as good as we had hoped for but Lorna and the team loved having you all so it is lovely to get such positive feedback. Glad you got home safely and we look forward to seeing you back for the christening!! More

What a wonderful hotel with great staff. We booked this hotel as a surprise for my father in law's 70th birthday and it was a lovely surprise for all of us. The hotel is very welcoming with roaring fires and a home from home atmosphere. However, what truly makes the hotel special is the people. Lorna and the whole team... More

Thank you for this TripAdvisor contribution, you have summed up what we are trying to achieve and I hope that others will have similar exp[experiences. We are emerging from a fairly harsh winter - not too cold but persistent gales and rain, enough to turn anyone to the comfort of a local gin or a whisky or two! But today... More

We were looking for a hotl that accepted dogs (we have two large ones) and the Bridgend was one of the only ones on Islay that did, so we booked. What a find the hotel was superbly furnished and the staff and service was exceptional. Every member of the staff went to so much trouble to ensure that our stay... More

Thank you for this really good review. As Bridgend Hotel is owned by Islay Estates we have made a conscious decision to welcome dogs and (if you look at a previous review for the restaurant you'll understand this) we prefer them to be well-behaved (as yours were) and not to yap during meals (not that yours did either)! Dogs are... More

Went to the Bridgend Hotel 2 days running for lunch... Super food, great oysters, prawns, fish and mussels. The staff were soooo friendly, lovely decor and ambience. We were not staying there but the owner showed us round the rooms and they were lovely... Very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this place.

Your appreciation of Islay oysters is well recognised. The oysters are grown by the Archibald family at Craigens on Islay and are generally considered to be amongst the best that there are. I think these are better than those I have had from anywhere including Orford or from any so-called 'oyster bar' - and I don't mean the Blue Oyster... More

We stayed at the Bridgend Hotel on Islay for one night in March 2015. The hotel is very pleasant, homey, comfortable and welcoming. Likewise, the room was comfortable and welcoming, also – with an amazingly comfortable bed. Staff were all very friendly and chatty, and really made you feel welcome. A lovely advert for the island. The food was the... More

According to our records not many people have stayed at Bridgend in March this year - none of them couples - so we are at a bit of a loss placing you. It would be kind if you could contact Lorna to discuss this because your review is certainly pertinent! We do serve Cullen Skink and Venison Pie, there is... More

With out a doubt the people here are amazingly friendly, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. Just don't ask for Scotch and coke.... LOL Everything was top flight from the food to the staff and never was anything a bother. We felt like we were losing lifetime friends after leaving this lovely place. Definitely worth every cent... If you want malt whisky and coke you're welcome to it! I am really glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for writing such a kind review. Bridgend is a great place for basing yourself on Islay - at the heart of the island it is the best place to visit beaches, distilleries and see wildlife. More

Thanks to all the staff at the Bridgend Hotel on Islay for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and no request was too much bother. Meals were also excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel. The only down-side were the shooting parties with whom we shared the hotel.

I am really glad you enjoyed your time at Bridgend. Your visit coincided with a group of men who have come back year after year to shoot on the Estate; they have become good friends of ours and we really enjoy their company; they are also extremely polite and well-mannered (at least when they are not in their cups) so...
