Very comfortable, clean, great food & friendly & helpful staff. Central for exploring Islay. One of the best I have stayed in in Scotland. No mobile reception in Bridgend & wifi poor, but don't let this put you off.

Welcoming and pleasant - staff well trained and efficient - good mamangement and the food is a delight. In an otherwise unwelcoming place - this was my haven - we were treated as guests and our dog was welcome in the bar too. So we ate there each night. The food is not bar food - it is restaurant food... More

We chose to eat here on our first night on Islay and i'm so glad we did. After looking at the menu earlier in the day when we booked my fiance was slightly dissapointed that the lobster thermadore had been changed to a lobster risotto which he didn't fancy however he chose lamb chump instead which he thoroughly enjoyed. I... More

Thank you for such a great review - we are lucky that the Hotel is situated right in the middle of Islay (the heart of Islay as we like to call it) so it is not only convenient for visiting all the distilleries and beaches, it is also the perfect place to have something to eat, walk around the centre... The tourist board classifies Bridgend Hotel with three stars to signify a small hotel, but in terms of service and atmosphere it deserves five. We stayed there for two nights in June of 2015, choosing it due to its relatively central Islay location and good reports about the restaurant. The welcome on arrival was certainly warm, a bit like coming... More

We have thought long and hard about how to improve Bridgend Hotel; we have listened to the staff, the guests and the reviews (and added a bit of our own thought). The conclusion reached is that we want to be the best 3 star possible. People come to Islay to look at the scenery, to enjoy the wildlife, sample the... More

Charlotte, Mary, Rebecca and all the members of the Bridgend Hotel were absolutely lovely. They made our three-night holiday to Islay memorable and special. Islay is remote and takes some planning. Our celluar reception was spotty. Still, they helped us at every turn.

One of the great truths of hospitality is that it is the people who make it: the staff and the guests in equal measure. Thank you for commending our staff, they are all very touched by your gratitude and delighted to have such positive feedback. We do have mobile reception on Islay and internet is available free to Hotel guests... More

Had dinner at Katie's Bar tonight. Service was excellent, staff so friendly especially when my girls asked our waitress who Katie is!! Best Lamb Tagine ever and the Steak Pie was hugely satisfying. Would highly recommend - we will be back!!

If there is anyone reading this intrigued by who Katie is, the answer is that Katie MacIndeor was a barmaid at Bridgend Hotel for many, many years. She retired in her eighties about 10 years ago and still lives at Newton Cottage in Bridgend. She is quite frail now, as you would expect from someone in her nineties but when... More

Just back from a lovely 4 nights at the Bridgend Hotel on Islay. Superb, friendly staff managed most ably and enthusiastically by Lorna. We dined in both the restaurant and Katie's Bar and the choice of food, wines, spirits and beers was very good. Don't be put off by 3 star status. The hotel is a gem and we would certainly... More

Thank you for such a lovely review. I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to appreciate both the restaurant and Katie's Bar. You touch on an interesting subject regarding stars. We have deliberately aimed at being the best 3 star possible without going up to a 4 star hotel. We understand the need to give value for... More

Excellent hotel. spent two nights there. Lovely food. Great staff. Lunched at another well known hotel on the island and it was not a patch on Bridgend. Very helpful and would certainly recommend to friends.

Thank you for this review - there are other good hotels on Islay and I am sorry that one of them didn't hit the spot with you but naturally delighted that we did! There is a great team at Bridgend and they really appreciate your kind compliment. More

This is a return visit - stayed here 5 nights 3 years ago. Three nights this time, and we wished that it could have been more. A friendly, comfortable hotel within easy reach of all the interesting places on Islay. Very good restaurant too!

Thank you for such a great review - you last came to Bridgend in May 2012 and gave us a great review then too. I hope you like the revamped dining room and the improvements to Katie's Bar and The Strath? We have a new(ish) head chef - at least since you were last here - who has built upon... More

A VERY late review being almost a full year after the fact. But something popped up on my Trip adviser and it jogged my memory. Coming all the way from New Zealand first for 3 weeks of business doing a winemakers tour, and then 2 weeks of holiday we ended up in Islay for 2 nights. The accomodation we had... More

As you will recall, I manage the Estate and oversee the Hotel and therefore don't see as much of the guests as Lorna does. However I do remember your visit well. It is as good a time as any to promote the excellent Sauvignon Blanc that we have from Jackson Estates - your winery! I know that you also produce... More
