Jack was great - unfortunately Katherine was ill and we did not get a chance to meet her - but nonetheless this was one of our best stays on recent visit to UK and Europe - Jack is the manager for the nature reserve on Islay and provide some great information about the area - the place was immaculate and... Jack and Catherine made our trip to Islay just wonderful. Their hospitality is one of a kind! The Bed & Breakfast itself offers clean, comfortable and warm rooms. The breakfast includes handmade bread. The perfect start for exploring the isle or taste some nice peated whisky! We definitely come back!

After travelling around Scotland for 10 days, I can easily say that this was the best place we stayed in.. it's what a B&B should be.. the host Jack is a true gentleman and makes you feel that his home is yours to share. The house was spotless and the library of books is amazing.. it is a house that... More

I was over on Islay for a quick work trip and we stayed here - cant fault the place! It was also far better priced compared to a lot of places i looked in to. Its super clean, very well priced and best of all the bed - top 3 of comfy beds i have ever slept in all round... More

We stayed here one night whilst cycling round the island and loved it. The room we had was thoughtfully decorated, lovely warm colours and textures and our hosts were most welcoming. We had not managed to get an evening meal for various reasons and had some cheese and biscuits with us and our hostess immediately offered to supply us with... More

very good B&B, fantastic location, great hosts, located in the country with no disturbance at all from either people or cars etc. could see deer from my room beyond the fields :) we arrived by car which frankly makes it very easy as Islay is not that big.

We stayed ay Loch Gruinart House for just two nights whilst visiting Islay. We arrived late on the first night but were still warmly welcomed. Our room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with a decent en suite. No TV and little phone reception but we didn't mind. Breakfast was cereal and homemade bread for toast (with other bits such... More

Like previous reviewers, we really enjoyed staying at Loch Gruinart House. Brilliant location for activities in all corners of Islay, beautiful walks right from the doorstep, lovely self-service breakfast, great chats with Jack about wildlife and the island, very peaceful, good night's sleep....all in all fantastic value for money. To top it off...corncrakes calling right in front of the house!!!... More

Brilliant location and brilliantly hosted by Jack and Catherine (& Finn!). Relaxed atmosphere and a very warm welcome make you feel at home straight away. Lots of books to help identify wildlife decorate the halls and wifi when you need to check extra facts about them. Their approach suited us to the ground and we would definitely recommend staying there.

Staying with Jack and Catherine at Loch Gruinart House was wonderful. They are so welcoming, so full of knowledge about the island and its wildlife, and run a very fine B&B. The house is very nicely furnished, the shower facilities excellent, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were fine. Jack makes fresh bread each day, and the temptation... More
