We arrived at Lanercost after a long trekon Day 4 of our Hadrian's Wall walk. We had no idea what to expect, other than that we would be eating there, as there are no options nearby that do not require a taxi. The building itself is in a beautiful setting, and is made from stone taken from the adjacent priory,... More

What a fabulous welcoming place to stay, Bob and Christine are the most wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for you. The food is delicious, home cooked with care using local ingredients and served with lovely wines. The rooms are very large as are the beds and very comfortable too. Lovely bathrooms with the added luxury of soft white towels... More

We stayed in Lanercost B&B after our second day on the Hadrians Wall Path. The B&B is set in the most picturesque countryside imaginable, right next to the romantic ruins of Lanercost Abbey - a must-see attraction. The owners were very hospitable and helpful, made us comfortable near the fireside with tea and cake, and later arranged a wonderful dinner... More

We were travelling through Cumbria and I had the flu. We were going to Lanercost Priory when we noticed the signs for the B&B. We knocked on the door and were welcomed and decided to stay. We were offered and had tea and cake on arrival and Christina and Bob were happy to chat to us. Although I had a... More

The B&B is in a great location and the welcome was friendly. The room was a good size but wasn't the one we had booked. It wasn't an issue but we didn't feel comfortable to ask to be moved as there was nothing wrong with the room we had. The meal was nice with dietary needs catered for and was... More

This B&B is everything that it says it is - welcoming, comfortable, and traditional. Expertly cooked local sourced and grown produce, everything was freshly made (even the biscuits in the room). Saying here for one night, my friends and I were welcomed with afternoon tea and cake by the owner, who chatted and passed the time whilst we relaxed over... More

The 'big hotel' background of the owners underpins a very well run Bed and Breakfast. Things are just 'right'. People that know hospitality know that it is mostly the little details that are the difference that makes the difference. My fiancé and I were halfway through walking the Hadrian's Wall trail and Lanercost was an oasis for us. We ate... More

I was lucky enough to get a last minute booking here to attend a wedding being held in the priory. The house is very attractive from the outside and the welcome was very warm from the owner Bob. The room was very comfortable, with twin beds, and the bathroom fine with a large shower cubicle. The welcome tray contained fresh... More

I'm not sure I have much more to add to what has already been said this past week. Our hosts Bob and Christina were excellent and attentive. Loved the draft beer Bob brought up from the cellar before dinner. And thoroughly enjoyed Christina's food - was the best we had on the 6 day hike. Christina greeted us with tea... More
