We did not have the opportunity to stay overnight, but we did spend the afternoon here with a group of Gaelic enthusiasts. What a magnificent place! The owners have done a fabulous job decorating and upgrading and would have loved to have seen the rooms! We had afternoon tea with our group which was out of this world! Ceud mìle... More

We chose the Grand Narrows hotel for a few nights in the middle of a self drive trip around Nova Scotia. The hope was to have quiet couple of nights to recharge the batteries. We could not have chosen a better place to stay, the hotel is indeed in a quiet, scenic, location away from the crowds. The rooms were... More

It was like we were going way back in the past. The tall ceilings and roomy rooms (we were in one of the 2 front lakeview rooms). A lot of history at this B&B. The host was very freindly and helpful. We felt at home there. Locals were swimming at the beach but we didn't feel the weather was hot... More

We stayed here for one night. The house is beautiful & you can just feel the history in it. It was cool to stay in a place that has so much history attached to it. Our room was simple & clean, it was nice to have a private bathroom. If you want a quiet, no fuss, relaxing spot to stay this... More

This hotel is practically on top of Bras d'Or with beautiful views and sunsets. The MacNeil's are wonderful people who make you feel welcome and are happy to give advice on where to go. We fell asleep listening to the frogs both nights...would definitely go back.

I stayed at the Grand Narrows with my husband 2 summers ago. It was a fantastic place to take a break and have a nice hot shower (and real bed!) and breakfast after our fun busy camping trip on the Cabot trail! It was a beautiful building with a lovely host and a yummy breakfast! And soooo much history!

My husband and I spent two days at this historic property which is being carefully restored. The owners were more than happy to share their insights and stories regarding the building and how they came to own it. Elaine was proud to share two books that include accounts of the grand old hotel when she realized we were interested. We... More

Beautiful hotel, awesome history, scenic location on the water with a gorgeous view of Bras d'Or Lake. It's not really close to any towns but we were able to have dinner at a new hotel close by that had just opened up which was great. The room was excellent, we stayed in the MacLennan room. It was clean, had its... More

Beautiful old restored hotel. Huge yard to run around. Right on the water. Alexander Graham Bell stayed here many times in the late 1800's. The room is very nice, the bathroom is huge and the breakfast was great! There isn't much to do around this hotel so plan your day to either drive to Baddeck or Sydney, that's where the... More

My husband and I took a week to explore Cape Breton and chose this B&B for one of our stops because of its central location. The hotel is steeped in history -- we stayed in the Bell Suite where the likes of Alexander Graham Bell and Helen Keller had laid their heads in years gone by. US presidents and other... More
