Great location, great scenery, great fly fishing but what makes it unique is your host Tiggy Pettifer. I have not stayed at a more welcoming place. Restful, quiet and very relaxing, the Brecon Beacons beckon.

AS THE OLD GUIDES USED TO SAY : TYR CHANTER IS WORTH A DETOUR. The property like its owner, Tiggy, oozes charm. You will feel very much at home. How green was my valley ? ( apologies to the author called...well Llewellyn of course.) Answer: Stunningly green. Stunning full stop in fact. If you are after total tranquility far from... More

We stayed with Tiggy recently and within a very short time felt completely at home. We were welcomed with home-made cake and tea from a big pot. Our pink bedroom was comfortable with pure linen bedding and stunning views. We felt having the toilet just next door was better and it was a completely private space. We thought it was... More

WOW, what an amazing B&B to stay at. "Ty'r Chanter", a five minute drive up the Usk Valley from Crickhowell, is an exceptional farmhouse/barn conversion/restoration situated up a track high on a Welsh mountainside, facing directly towards the glories of the Brecon Beacons. Tiggy Pettifer who owns and runs the place is full of life and the most joyful hostess... More

We have had a great weekend staying with Tiggy and her family. We were attending a wedding on the Glanusk estate and were fortunate enough to be recommended Ty'r Chanter as a B and B. We feel as if we have been staying with family or friends. It is unusual to feel so relaxed away from home with 3 children... More

We stayed three nights over Easter and were spoilt enough to be the only guests. Views from the sitting room are fantastic, breakfast (home-cooked on the Aga) was great, and we got plenty of entertainment from owner and animals alike (it's the only B & B where we've come back in the afternoon to find a chicken wandering round the... We stayed with Tiggy at Ty'r Chanter for 2 nights over the weekend while we went to a friend's wedding at a local venue. Tiggy made us feel immediately welcome as we joined her for a drink and a natter before heading to the games room to play pool before retreating for the night. The room was extremeley cosy and... We have been to Ty'r Chanter twice, most recently this summer with friends. For us, it fely like home from home, but with all the hassle taken away. Tiggy is frenetically energetic, wonderfully helpful and endlessly entertaining. The house and rooms are comfortable and there is plenty of sapce. On each visit, we walked for two days - the variety... More

This is an outstanding B&B. And quite a unique experience. Beautifully located west of Abergavenny, you get a warm welcome and the freedom to come and go as you like. We spent four very happy days there. The house is big and friendly. There are children and dogs, lambs and ponies and visiting children are welcome to join in with... More
