The "homestay" is actually a group of community owned bungalows on outskirts of charming village - nice people, simple, good clean rooms and honest service. Near the dark cave zipline, so if you are on the phong nha circuit, it is worth stopping in.

Chay Lap is an ecoutourism project which is nice because it's helping the local communities. We stayed there for 2 nights and visited Paradise Cave. We did it ourselves rather than as part of a tour. I'd recommend staying here as part of a tour, so then you have a guide who can show you around other places. It is... More

Chay Lap 'homestay' is close to the HCM trail and the National Park / Caves. Our group riding small motorbikes enjoyed a very warm family welcome. Basic timber accommodation, firm but comfortable beds with mosquito nets. Great food. No hot water in the shower, very refreshing in the winter months (we were there in February 2012), but don't let that... More

We visted Chay Lap as a family of 5 (children aged 12, 9 & 5) and left very disappointed. Our first mistake was not realising the cost of the transfers from the train station to the homestay, it was 750 000 vnd, and the same on the return. Our second mistake was going in December when it was cold, wet... More

Staying at Chay Lap was amazing. It was one of the best things in a wonderful trip around the country. Being able to mountain bike up the HCM highway with little to no traffic and stop and see amazing caves and beautiful springs was really great. The next day we were also able to borrow kayaks to leisurely travel up... More

Since this is the first review, lots of info: The "homestay" at Chay Lap offers as much or as little of village life as you want. We enjoyed quiet cabins near the entrance to a beautiful, fun World Heritage Park (Phong Nha Ke Bang), rented equipment (trekking bicycles and kayaks) in excellent condition for exploring the park and waterways on...
