While we didn't stay at this hotel, we did stop for lunch while cycling the Camino de Santiago. Multiple good choices on the pilgrim's menu, very tasty dishes with friendly service. Just the right thing on a hot tired day of cycling!

We stumbled upon this gem walking the Camino, deciding that we'd had our fill of bunk beds and snoring. For a few € more, we got a lovely appointed double room, comfy bed, and private bath (shower), all spotlessly clean. We were invited to make use of the living room and garden areas. The staff were wonderful. A bag of... More

I was walking the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain . On the 2nd. day out of Burgos I had a knee problem. I staggered into Castrojeriz and checked into this small hotel ( the closest ) and how lucky I was . I was met my the lady-of-the-house who rushed off and reappeared with an ice-pack for my knee... Castrojeriz is a very quiet little spanish town. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant in the hotel is quite good. Hotel is right on the camino de santiago. Would recommend the hotel to anyone who is staying in town.

While walking the Camino, my husband got ill so we had to take a taxi from our previous hotel to the Hotel Cachava, Even though it was 11 am our room was ready. Dinner was included in our package, but my husband's stomach was still iffy - the owner cooked him up a nice bowl of mashed potatoes which hit... More

My room was the one on the left when you walk up the first set of stairs. It faces the street and Camino so there is some traffic noise at times but quiet at night. It is a large room by hotel standards in Spain with a double bed and comfortable mattress, two chairs, a large chest and table for... More

After walking from Burgos, we were looking forward to a good meal and a rest. The reception was lovely, we were offered a cold drink on entering. The single rooms were fine and clean in an old fashioned building. Lots of stairs!! The only other guests were two French women, also on the camino. We were served a very welcome... More

We stopped there for 1 night last year while we were on the camino de Santiago. I must say that the owners are friendly, that our room was spacious and the bathroom well equipped but the price we paid was for too high for what we really were getting : no heating in the very cold bedroom, no proper breakfast... During the summer of 2009 I completed the Camino However, not without some set backs along the way ! Fortunately, LA CACHAVA was there to save a wondering and broken pilgrim. After hurting my ankle for the third time during my quest to finish el camino and ultimately over my travel partners I needed to find a place to crash... More

After 29 km of walking from Burgos in a downpour on this otherwise beautiful rolling countryside, accommodation was unavailable for me in Hontanas and a further 9 km in the rain brought me into Castrojeriz, tired and soggy. The hotel I stayed at in 2005 was closed for holidays and I wandered the streets of this historic village looking for... More
