Stayed a couple of nights in August and walked to live traditional music sessions both nights down the road. Great place to stay if you're visiting the Arran Islands, Cliffs of Moher, the Burren (Geo-Park), etc. Large communal kitchen, nice breakfast offerings, and a fantastic walking tour of local archaeological sights/flora & fauna/etc. with one of the owners. Thanks, Mattie!!... More

We enjoyed our stay here. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby. We loved the countryside. Pro's: staff, location, building, kitchen, bike rental, cosy common room with fireplace, breakfast, one double bed per dorm Con's: Temporary flooding shower, no supermarkets within 7 km, bus only leaves three times a day (2hrs travelling from Galway).

Lovely, cozy hostel situated in one of the most beautiful areas in Ireland, right in between The Burren and The Cliffs of Moher providing top class surf, rock climbing, pubs and amazing scenery among other things. It's closeness to the brilliant surf spots of Crab Island and Doolin Point allowed me to walk down to and be in the water... More

Carmel and Mattie create an ideal hostel experience: they provide a big beautiful kitchen, separate dining room, outdoor deck, and a continental breakfast. Easy place to cook. Carmel encourages guests to leave (recycle) provisions, offers great direction for local travel, and lights a peat fire in the common room every evening. They even provided some local rides to our University... More

The Rainbow hostel is very comfortable and the 2 nights we spent there were the quietest during our holidays in Ireland. Breakfast was included in the price and was really good (we did like the soda bread!). We could cook our meals in the well equipped kitchen. The ensuite bedroom was spacious and clean. And most important Carmel was a... More

I have just finished my second visit to the Rainbow Hostel and it was as memorable as the first. Carmel and Mattie are wonderful hosts. They provide a clean, warm, homely hostel, with a light breakfast (you sometimes even get hot scones!). Our group included mainly 50 and 60 year olds and one young person. So we weren't prepared to... More

I stayed at rainbow with 2 friends for a weekend and would definitely recommend it to anyone! We had a lovely room and it was so nice to have our breakfast sitting out the back garden on a sunny morning. Will definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the hostel in early August for a couple of nights. Bed was really comfortable, and room and en suite bathroom was really clean. Kitchen was well supplied and everything was great. Carmel is lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone. Will stay there again the next time I return to Doolin, which I... More

Parking places right in front of the hostel make it a convenient stopover. There is a B&B and an hostel on site. My recommendation: have diner at the pub on the same side of the road before the little bridge. The Pub food was the best we had on our trip and the atmosphere was great.

While visiting a crowded pub for the music, we were invited to share a table with the owners of the Rainbow Hostel. The warm friendliness of Mattie and Carmel made our evening in Doolin very special. They invited us to stop by the hostel the following morning for a tour. Not at all what I think of as hostel accommodations.... More
