I stayed in Aille River Hostel only for one night. Doolin is not exactly a village, can be better discribed as some houses and a few pubs spread on a hill, some on the top, some near the sea. Hostel is somewhere in the middle, situated on the bank of a river.(About 25 minutes walking to the pier). I checked in late and checked... more

I have just been reading some of the reviews on this hostel and it has brought back happy memories of almost a year ago when I stayed at this hostel for several days. I loved it. I have been to Doolin on many occasions and stayed in all the available hostels but this has to be the best. It has... more

The other reviews really say it all. From the peat fire in the main room, to the excellent location, there really wasn't any nicer place that I stayed in during my month-long trek through Ireland. I'll definitely be making Doolin a destination in the future, all because of this place. more

Stayed with my husband and 2 daughters (9,8) during the summer .It was quite drizzly the day we arrived so we hopped into bed for a snooze that was around 3 in the afternoon and even with it being busy downstairs we didn't here a peep ! This hostel is clean, cosy and ideally located at the heart of Doolin village (watch out, there is still a 35 minutes walk to the pier!). The owner appears to be strongly dedicated to her business, welcoming her guests personally and being really really friendly and helping. Very good kitchen facilities and a nice living room that deserves the term,... more

i intended to stay here for 3 nights and ended up staying a week. the location is perfect for exploring doolin, which has great local music, or hiking up to the cliffs or taking a ferry out to the islands. but the hostel itself is what's so wonderful, with a small river flowing out front, where you can sit in... more

Among the loveliest hostels I've ever stayed at, in 20 years of travelling. Per-fect, that is. Pristine condition, just the perfect size so groups are very much unlikely to invade the place, peat fire (and, I agreee, the best rocking chair in Ireland...), kitchen is very well equipped and ALL the apppliances work. Friendly and knowledgeable management, who can point... more

Old building by small river. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. GOod kitchen, living room, free internet. Music pubs nearby. Lots of hiking swimming nearby. Late night crowd, hostel stays busy for a while after pubs close. Laid-back atmosphere. Will stay again more

I have to say that this was my favorite hostel in Ireland. I had such a great time there. Karl and Emily make you feel right at home - and they always know your name on sight. The common room really serves to bring everyone together. You get to sit, chat, eat, and have a few beers while getting to... more

I've been going to Doolin every year for ten years, and I always stay here. The staff are great. It's halfway between the two halves of the village so it's good for pub forays in either direction. It's got a really good peat fire as well, and the most comfortable rocking chair in Ireland. The small kitchen is pandemonium at... more
