We recently stayed here and I thought it was just ok. It is definitely an interesting place and the views are stunning. I also thought the decor was beautiful with large draperies and antique furniture. However, the shower had very low water pressure and the water did not get hotter than lukewarm. My wife and I loved the 3 nights we spent at the Ballinalacken. From the moment we drove up to the estate and stepped inside, we immediately felt at home. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and loved it. Yes, some of the furnishings are a bit tired in the old part of the building, but this is not a characterless chain hotel. This hotel is in a beautiful setting with great views of the West Coast of Ireland. The hotel lobby is well-decorated. However, our room had old furnishings, felt damp, and smelled like mildew. For the price of the hotel I would expect higher quality in the rooms. The service was fine and the breakfast was excellent. more
