A couple of us stayed here recently while working about 10 miles away in Birmingham. Our company normally stays in the mainstream branded hotels but when we looked up the prices they were asking crazy amounts in the city! A bit of Googling found The White Lion and it was much better than staying somewhere large and impersonal. The couple... More

We went to the White Lion Inn for Sunday lunch. Sunday's aren't the best for vegetarians as many restaurants tend to go for roast menus, this was no exception. Pasta again. Yawn. This time with a Stilton and Parmesan sauce (were these cheeses made with vegetarian rennet?). For £9.50, I expected a salad, and perhaps even some garlic bread. All... More

First visit. Parked in the car park,10min walk to station, one stop to NEC....so convenient. Good atmosphere to bar and restaurant and wide selection of beers. Evening meal was surprisingly disheartening..One main course was a big mistake but was sorted out quickly to our satisfaction. We made our choices from the dessert menu, but the waitress returned from the kitchen to... We stayed whist visiting the NEC and found the staff and owners charming. The food was excellent and the accommodation in the main building quaint, clean and comfortable. We liked it so much we went back for dinner the night after we checked out, even though it was a large detour on our way home . Thoroughly recommend, if you... More

I did stay in room 1 but then I am only 5,6”, the room took you back into history very quirky, Stopping over on business I wanted to stay at a real Inn and that is what I got. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, as to the inn the bar was well stocked with real ales and the... More

A stones throw from the Birmingham NEC, and perfect for what we're were looking for as a quick stopover destination. Our room was clean, comfortable (room 7) and well equipped, being adjacent to a small pretty garden, possibly December isn't quite the time to make full use of it, however, I'm sure in the summer it is very attractive. Both... More

My husband and I were shown to our garden room. This was very ordinary and had just one chair. I sat on the bed to watch the television and there was a strange creak. The bed was also sagging towards the middle. My husband sat beside me and when he got up there was a crash and the slats supporting... More

We booked this hotel for seven visitors in November. They were all very impressed with the rooms which were clean and modern. The food on both evenings and breakfast were exceptional. We booked dinner for 20 guests and the food was all served together, nobody was kept waiting longer for any food. The hotel staff, Chris and his wife Foo... More

We had one of the upstairs garden rooms and although immacuately clean it was tiny. You couldn't move without tripping over, banging something or hitting your head. And unfortunately the bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've slept on. When we checked in we were asked what time we'd like breakfast and ascertaining that it was between 07.30 and... More

Beautiful characteristic 400 year old grade II listed building. Absolutely fantastic stay, hosts were very welcoming and the food (including hearty breakfast) is delicious. With the location to train station a short walking distance and only one stop to Birmingham NEC, it couldn't be any more convenient. We stayed for 4 nights and loved it; the rates were just right...
