We have never stayed at The Horseshoes but have stopped to eat there each time we travel from Bedfordshire to Norfolk; usually two or three times a year for the last 10 years or more. We always receive a warm welcome and enjoy a good meal. The menu offers plenty of choice with specials on the blackboard, and also a... More

Our arrival at this fairly standard example of a typical old British pub was met with a prompt reception and we were immediately shown to a table and provided with menus. These offered a wide range of standard pub fare plus a couple of "specials" on a board, a range of cheaper snacks, and various pensioners` offers were available on... More

I stop at this location every Friday and can't fault it whatsoever , the selection of real ale is good and John the host is very good at what he does. A very nice place to stop. The inn is situated on the a143 close to the old mill which is also worth a visit . The owner of this... More

Ok for a short stopover. Very friendly hosts and a good breakfast. Agree that the fire escape is a bit daunting to get up to the rooms which were a bit basic and tired, could do with a "freshen up"! Towels and bedding need upgrading too! Shower head could have done with a descale. But hey, you get what you... More

Stayed for the night on 25th May. Welcomed by a nice chap behind the bar, possibly landlord, who showed us to our room. Room was basic, but totally reflective in the reasonable prices and did exactly what most people should need from a place to stay for a night or two. Plenty of tea/ coffee in room, wardrobe with hangers,... More

OK if all you need is a place to sleep and don't mind having to go up a metal fire escape to get to your room (which, frankly, I do!). We arrived in the evening & weren't very hungry so asked for just a plate of chips, which were adequate but not startlingly good and would have been improved by... More

We'd already decided to eat at The Horseshoes before I read the reviews, so I was a bit apprehensive. However we entered and were greeted by the landlord. Asking if we wanted to eat, he summed us up by offering the two-course Senior's Special at £5-00 per head. There was a choice of two roasts and cottage pie. We took... More

Very quiet on arrival , with only one other couple in the restaurant and about three in the bar . Ordered quickly three fish and chips and one gammon , fifty minutes later the food arrived , so hungry at this point we would of eaten anything . Soon as we had finished plates were taken away and the bill... More

On arriving I was welcomed by the landlady who had food all down her shirt & country stares from the locals. First impression was that place was dirty, & fly tape every where, Double room which was basic at best, shower doors were broken, no storage space in bathroom, TV about the size of a postage stamp! Could hear everything... More

Rooms had everything you need and were clean. The Horseshoes is an old fashioned pub with service to match, when we said we may arrive after dinner service time the landlady said she would keep the kitchen open if we were delayed, you don't get service like that everywhere. Food was good and presented nicely. Worth the money we paid.
